ABSTRACT. Pollen storages in nests of bees of the genera Partamona, Scaura and Trigona (Hymenoptera, Apidae). Bees and angiosperms established a mutualistic relationship along the evolutionary time. The aim of this study is to contribute for the understanding of this relation analyzing pollen stored by stingless bees colonies distributed along the Rio Negro. Fourteen species of Meliponini from the genera Partamona, Scaura, and Trigona were studied with regard to the content of pollen pots. The pollen material was removed from the pollen pots, homogenized, and prepared according to the usual acetolysis technique. The overlap of the trophic niche and the grouping of species by similarity of niches was calculated. The identification revealed 78 pollen types belonging to 36 families, being 37 types attractive and 16 considered as promoters of a temporary specialization event. With the results, it was possible to indicate a list of important plants for meliponiculture in the Amazon.KEYWORDS. Pollination, pollinic resource, stingless bee RESUMO. Pólen estocado nos ninhos de abelhas dos gêneros Partamona, Scaura e Trigona (Hymenoptera, Apidae). Abelhas e plantas estabeleceram ao longo do tempo evolutivo uma relação mutualística. Buscando contribuir para o entendimento dessa relação, foi analisado o pólen estocado por colônias de abelhas-sem-ferrão distribuídas ao longo do rio Negro. Foram estudados potes de pólen de 14 espécies de Meliponini dos gêneros Partamona, Scaura e Trigona. O material polínico foi retirado dos potes de pólen, homogeneizado e preparado segundo técnica usual de acetólise. Foram calculados a sobreposição de nicho trófico e o agrupamento das espécies pela similaridade de nichos. Foi identificado o total de 78 tipos polínicos, pertencentes a 36 famílias, sendo 37 destes, considerados atrativos, enquanto 16 foram promotores de eventos de especialização temporária. Com os resultados obtidos foi possível indicar uma lista de plantas de importância para a meliponicultura na Amazônia.PALAVRAS-CHAVE. Abelhas-sem-ferrão, polinização, recurso polínico.

-(Reproductive biology of two species of Jatropha L. (Euphorbiaceae) in "Caatinga", northeastern Brazil). The phenology, pollination and breeding system of Jatropha mutabilis (Pohl) Baill. and J. mollissima (Pohl) Baill. were studied in the municipalities of Buíque (8°67' S and 37°01' W) and Arcoverde (8°25' S and 37°02' W), both in the Caatinga, Pernambuco state. Twenty individuals of each species were tagged for phenological observations, and the study of floral biology, reproductive system, as well as the frequency and behaviour of floral visitors. The species are monoecious, with diurnal dish flowers, the male ones more ephemeral (12 h) than the female (36 h). The sugar concentration in the nectar of J. mutabilis and J. mollissima varied between 26%-32% and 20%-28%, respectively. Volume was usually greater (16 µL) in female flowers of both species. Pollen viability was high (> 97%). Both species are self-compatible. The percentage of fruit set under natural conditions was c. 75% in J. mutabilis and of 85% in J. mollissima, indicating high reproductive success. The flowers are pollinated by bees and wasps, and also by hummingbirds in J. mutabilis and butterflies in J. mollissima. The species have flowers along the whole year, thus they are important resources for the maintenance of the local communities of animals that visit them. Also, the presence and effectiveness of these groups of pollinators are fundamental for both plant species, since they are responsible for the pollen flow among male and female flowers in these monoecious shrubs.Key words -Caatinga, Jatropha, monoecy, pollination, reproductive phenology RESUMO -(Biologia reprodutiva de duas espécies de Jatropha L. A polinização, o sistema reprodutivo e a fenologia de floração e de frutificação de Jatropha mutabilis (Pohl) Baill. e J. mollissima (Pohl) Baill. foram estudados no Estado de Pernambuco, nos Municípios de Buíque (8°67' S e 37°01' W) e Arcoverde (8°25' S e 37°02' W), ambos em Caatinga. Foram marcados 20 indivíduos de cada espécie para registro dos dados fenológicos, aspectos da biologia floral, sistema reprodutivo, bem como freqüência e comportamento dos visitantes florais. As duas espécies são monóicas, apresentam flores do tipo disco, com antese floral diurna, havendo variação em relação à longevidade das flores nos dois sexos, sendo as flores masculinas mais efêmeras (12 h), e as femininas mais duradouras (36 h). Ambos os tipos florais são nectaríferos e a concentração de açúcares no néctar variou entre 26% e 32% em J. mutabilis e 20% a 28% em J. mollissima. A viabilidade do pólen foi alta (> 97%) em ambas as espécies. As espécies são autocompatíveis, formando frutos tanto nos tratamentos de geitonogamia como nos de xenogamia. Abstract:The knowledge of the phenology patterns and of the floral biology, the determination of the role of the vectors of pollen flow, besides the understanding of the reproductive system, are fundamental points for the understanding of the reproductive biology of the species. The pollination ecology, reproductive system, flowering phenology and floral visitors of Byrsonima umbellata Mart. and B. rotunda Griseb. were studied in a Cerrado area, at Urbano Santos municipality, Maranhão State. B. umbellata presented extended flowering period (eight months) and B. rotunda showed brief flowering period (one month). The species had hermaphroditic flowers with diurnal anthesis. B. umbellata is facultatively self-incompatible, showing higher fruit production through cross-pollinators (46.6%), and B. rotunda is mainly self-compatible, with fruit production in all treatments, even through agamospermy (60%), although higher production was achieved in geitonogamy (90%). We observed 42 and 16 species of bees in B. umbellata and B. rotunda flowers, respectively. Centris aenea and C. (Trachina) sp.n. were considered the main pollinators of B. umbellata flowers and C. aenea of B. rotunda. Both Byrsonima species present important ecological function, representing important resources to several species of bees during flowering season deficit in the studied environment.
