Pólen das plantas do nordeste setentrional do Brasil III: Sterculiaceae

Abstract

RESUMO -Nesta parte do catálogo das plantas do nordeste setentrional do Brasil, foram estudadas 8 espécies da família Sterculiaceae. Os grãos apresentam características morfológicas relacionadas com os gêneros. Guazuma distingue-se por ser 3--<:olporado e de tamanho pequeno, Helicteris apresenta-se 3-porado, Sterculia é 3--<:olporado suprareticulado, e Waltheria (4) -5~olporado suprareticulado em W. indica (isostílica). (4) -6--colporado espiculoso em W. viscosissima brevistila e 3--<:olporado suprareticulado em W. viscosissima longistila. Os dados obtidos demonstram que se trata de uma fanu1ia heterogênt:a do ponto de vista palinológico. onde o grão de pólen tem importancia na sua taxonornia.Palavras-chaves: Palinologia I Catálogo Palinológico I Sterculiaceae.ABSTRACT -In this paper of catalogue Norteast brasilian plants pollen grains, the autors deals with Sterculiaceae. Based on the aperture as major and exine pattern and size as subsidiary caracteres, seven pollen types have been recognized. Guazuma small, prolate spheroidal, 3-zonocolporate, having omamented ora Helicteris produces two pollen types: 3-zonoporate pilate grains (H. mollis) and 3-zonoporate verrucose grains (H. baruensis and H. heptandra); Sterculia 3-zonocolporate and suprereticulate grains, Waltheria three pollen types: 3-zonocolporate retipilariate grains (W. viscosissima longistila); (4)-6-colporate suprareticulate grains (W. indica) and (4)-6-colporate spinulose (W. viscosissima brevistila) grains. ldentification key for studied species, based on the morphological characteristics of their pollen grains, is presented.

Pollen morphology of Waltheria L. (Malvaceae-Byttnerioideae) from Bahia, Brazil

Two distinct types of pollen grains have been observed in a single taxa (Köhler 1973;1976; Cristiano Eduardo Amaral Silveira Júnior, Luciene Cristina Lima e Lima and Marileide Dias Saba Brevistylous morphs always presented with larger pollen grains than those of the longistylous, which corroborated other studies (Köhler 1973;1976;Miranda & Andrade 1989;Saunders 1993;1995). Medium pollen grains prevailed among the reticulate type, while large ones prevailed among the echinate type.…”

Miranda & Andrade (1989) described the same characteristics as the present study in specimens of W. viscosissima, which were also reported by Saunders (1993) for other species in the genus. Saba et al (2004) found this same pattern in W. cinerascens and W. selloana, but only in the height of the endoapertures.…”

Th e same results were found by Miranda & Andrade (1989) and Saba et al (2004) for W. brachypetala, W. cinerascens, and W. viscosissima. Th e echinate pollen grains often had a thicker exine, but only W. rotundifolia had a thicker exine on its reticulate type pollen. Köhler (1973;1976) and Saunders (2005) reported Saba et al (2004) and Saba (2007) found no such correlation.…”
