Detecção de quartzo e argilominerais para o monitoramento de degradação de terras a partir de dados do infravermelho termal do sensor aster

Abstract: In this work, ASTER (Advanced Spaceborne Thermal Emission and Reflection Radiometer ) Thermal Infrared data (TIR -10 to 14 bands -8. 125-10.95μm) were used to map quartz and clay minerals in land degradation areas, in the southwestern portion of Rio Grande do Sul State, Brazil. This study area presents a specific land degradation process named arenizac ¸ão , which is related to erosion of arenitic rocks and formation of structured sandy soils. Such processes introduce several environmental damages such as i… Show more

“…This fact makes it harder to assess degraded soils in environmental systems, because this type of soil is associated with an intensely erosive processes and poor fertility. The use of ASTER Thermal Infrared bands (TIR -AST10/8.125 μm-AST14/10.95 μm) is highly efficient for this approach, due to its ability to reproduce the main quartz spectral diagnostic feature (reststrahlen bands -~8.2-9.3 μm) (Vicente & Souza Filho, 2010). However, ASTER/TIR's 90-m spatial resolution restricts our goals in this work.…”

“…They are of great significance to the studies of climate, hydrology, geology, ecology, agronomy, and natural disasters (Vicente & Souza Filho, 2010;Anderson et al, 2012;Huo et al, 2015;Gallego-Elvira et al, 2016;Sobrino et al, 2016;Cheng & Kustas, 2019;Nill et al, 2019;Roy et al, 2020).…”
