Grau de bem-estar relativo de frangos em diferentes densidades de lotação

Abstract: Grau de bem-estar relativo de frangos em diferentes densidades de lotação [Broiler welfare (6,3±2,3 and 4,5±1,8%), triglycerides (158,9±32,9 e 186,3±43,9mg/dl), globulins ( 1,8±0,5 and 1,5±0,4%), and lighter final weight in DL 15 (1,65±0,28kg in DL10 1,69±0,13 to DL 15.)

“…Temperatures above the ideal may have caused caloric stress in the animals, reducing feed intake and, consequently, the animal weight. These data agree with those obtained by Bonamingo et al (2011), who evaluated the chickens' welfare degree in different stocking densities and observed that the decrease in environmental quality, caused by the lack of effective control over environmental conditions, caused a reduction in the animals' performance.…”

“…The absence of changes in H:L ratios in the present study indicates that birds did not suffer any physiological stress as a result of the rearing densities applied, and therefore, that their physiological welfare was maintained. These results are consistent with those of Heckert et al (2002), who did not detect any Bonamigo et al (2011), despite not detecting any significant influence of housing density on the H:L ratio of broilers, obtained H:L ratios higher than 1.0 in birds housed at 10 and 15 birds/m 2 , and concluded that these birds were under stress. Table 7 shows the carcass yield results of 29-d-old broilers of different genetic strains reared at different densities.…”

“…These Bonamigo et al (2011), who did not find any effect of rearing density on these parameters. According to Bounous & Stedman (2000), leukocyte and lymphocyte counts normally range between 12,000-30,000 cells/μL and 7,000-17,500 cells/μL, respectively, and a 50% or higher ratio of lymphocytes relative to total leukocytes is considered physiologically normal (Tabeli et al, 2005).…”

“…When elevated, glucocorticoids suggest greater stress suffered by the animals. According to Bonamigo et al (2011), high concentrations of triglycerides can be considered indicators of acute stress. In addition, these authors observed higher concentrations of triglycerides in animals produced in higher density, a condition that is a proxy for worse well-being.…”
