A febre aftosa no Brasil, 1960-2002

Show more

“…As a result, an interruption of historical presentation patterns in the countries participating in the project, particularly in Argentina and Brazil, was observed (Naranjo & Cosivi, ). The changes in the adjuvant vaccine from aqueous to oil, that took place in the mid‐1980s, was also highlighted as a contributing factor for the control of FMD, with the concomitant reduction of serotype C reports (Lyra & Silva, ).…”

“…As a result, an interruption of historical presentation patterns in the countries participating in the project, particularly in Argentina and Brazil, was observed (Naranjo & Cosivi, 2013). The changes in the adjuvant vaccine from aqueous to oil, that took place in the mid-1980s, was also highlighted as a contributing factor for the control of FMD, with the concomitant reduction of serotype C reports (Lyra & Silva, 2004). The exploratory analytical tools utilised in this study to investigate the spatial and temporal distribution of FMDv serotype C in the Americas helped to enhance the knowledge of its epidemiology.…”

“…The time series analysis of FMD outbreaks in Brazil showed that the disease was endemic until the 1980s, when the number of outbreaks decreased due to the identification and control of endemic areas and the use of higher quality vaccines (LYRA & SILVA, 2004). In 1992, the Brazilian program to eliminate FMD was restructured by the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food Supply, producing an important decrease on FMD incidence (LYRA & SILVA, 2004).…”
