Pruning Time in Two Production Systems in the Guava Tree Bacterial Blight Control

-In this work, two cultural production systems were compared [conventional (CO) and organic (OR)], and its effects in the guava trees (Psidium guajava) bacterial blight (Erwinia psidii) control. The experimental design was in radomized blocks, in split-split-plot arrangement, where it was measured the bacterial disease and the fruits production on the 2005/06, 2006/07 and 2007/08 harvests. Four pruning seasons effects were evaluated on the harvests (September, December, March and June) in both production systems. Such systems were constituted of: OR -treatment with bioactive compound (BC), liquid BC and dead coverage, and; CO -chemical fertilization, fungicide and herbicide. In 2007/08, the area under the disease progress curve (AUDPC) of all the treatments in the OR system was lower (~54-107) than the CO one(~233-298). In the 2007/08 harvest the number of fruits for each plant for all the OR treatments was higher (~146-204) than the CO ones (~57-103). In all the harvests, considering all the treatments within each system, there was a significantly lower AUDPC (~93-184) and higher fruits production (~158-188) in the OR one than the CO one (AUDPC: ~208-476; fruits ~18-104). The pruning induced a higher AUDPC and lower fruits production in both production sytems. Index terms: Erwinia psidii, Psidium guajava, pruning time. ÉPOCAS DA PODA EM DOIS SISTEMAS DE PRODUÇÃONO CONTROLE DA SECA BACTERIANA DA GOIABEIRA RESUMO -Foram comparados dois sistemas de produção cultural (orgânico = OR; convencional = CO) e seus efeitos no controle da seca dos ponteiros (Erwinia psidii) da goiabeira (Psidium guajava). O delineamento experimental foi o de blocos casualizados, em arranjo de parcelas subsubdivididas, onde foram mensuradas a bacteriose e a produção de frutos nas safras de 2005/2006, 2006/2007 e 2007/2008. Nas safras, foram avaliados os efeitos das quatro épocas de poda (setembro, dezembro, março e junho) em ambos os sistemas de produção. Tais sistemas constituíram-se de: OR -tratamentos com composto bioativo (CB), CB líquido e cobertura morta; e CO -adubação química, fungicida e herbicida. Em 2007/2008, a Área Abaixo da Curva de Progresso da Doença (AACPD) de todos os tratamentos no sistema OR foi menor (~54-107) que em CO (~233-298). Na safra de 2007/2008 o número de frutos por planta para todos os tratamentos em OR foi maior (~146-204) do que aqueles em CO (~57-103). Em todas as safras, considerando todos os tratamentos dentro de cada sistema, houve significativamente menor AACPD (~93-184) e maior produção de frutos (~158-188) em OR do que em CO (AACPD: ~208-476; frutos: ~81-104). Tomato fertigation with dairy cattle wastewater

The use of wastewater in the fertigation of agricultural crops increases productivity and product quality, and contributes to reduce environmental pollution. In this work, the objective was to evaluate how the use of dairy cattle wastewater (DCWW) in the fertigation of tomatoes affected production and productivity, as well as foliar nutritional contents, in an organic farming system. Treatments consisted of six nitrogen doses (0, 50, 100, 200, 300 and 400%), having N recommendation for tomato (100 kg/ha) as reference, applied using DCWW via fertigation. DCWW is made up of washing water, urine, feces and milk. Stem diameter, branch length, weekly fruit yield per plant and aggregate productivity were evaluated. N, P, K, Ca, Mg, S, Cu, Mn, Fe, Zn and B foliar contents were quantified. Data were submitted to analysis of variance (p≤0.05) and, where significant, polynomial regression models were applied. Treatment means were compared by the Tukey test (p≤0.05). The highest production, productivity and nutrient foliar accumulation were observed when 400% of the N dose recommended for tomato was used. There was an increasing linear effect on weekly and aggregate yield and also on nutrient accumulation in leaves as function of the applied N dose. N fertilization in tomato organic production can be carried out using DCWW via fertigation, but with a complementary mineral fertilization to supply plants with adequate amounts of phosphorus and potassium.

“…Em trabalho realizado por Deleito et al (2005) com o objetivo de elucidar e quantificar aspectos relativos ao efeito do Agrobio sobre o controle da mancha-bacteriana e desenvolvimento de mudas de pimentão, em condições de casa de vegetação, verificaram efeito benéfico no desenvolvimento das mudas de pimentão e redução na incidência da doença. Referindo-se ao manejo do ambiente para a prevenção de patógenos em pimentão, Pereira et al (2013) elenca medidas que devem ser adotadas para minimizar a incidência de doenças na cultura, entre elas: o estabelecimento de barreiras vegetais, evitando o plantio em áreas próximas às culturas velhas de outras solanáceas, manutenção da adubação equilibrada, cuidados com a irrigação excessiva e contaminada, eliminação de plantas doentes, rotação de culturas com gramíneas por no mínimo dois anos, expurgo de maquinários evitando a disseminação de partículas de solo contaminadas para novas áreas.…”

RESUMOO pimentão está entre as dez hortaliças mais importantes em termos de valor econômico no Brasil, devido ao uso culinário e suas propriedades nutricionais, além de representar significativa importância na agricultura familiar, sobretudo por fazer a integração desta com a agroindústria. Entretanto, análises feitas pela ANVISA no pimentão desde 2001, demonstram altos índices de irregularidades nas amostras analisadas, sendo 84% ocasionados pela presença de agrotóxicos não autorizados para a cultura, utilizados para controlar doenças e insetos. Considerando a relevância destes dados, amplamente divulgados pela mídia e a demanda cada vez mais freqüente por hortaliças livres de resíduos sintéticos, o objetivo deste estudo é apresentar os entraves do cultivo convencional e ressaltar as potencialidades do cultivo orgânico do pimentão através do manejo agroecológico de doenças e insetos. A partir das informações reunidas neste trabalho, verifica-se que a produção orgânica do pimentão é uma prática viável, sendo imprescindível o aperfeiçoamento de novas tecnologias compatíveis a este tipo de produção, formuladas de acordo com a realidade e disponibilidade de recursos da propriedade agrícola familiar.Palavras-chave: agrotóxicos; sustentabilidade; Capsicum annuum L.; agricultura familiar; hortaliça. ABSTRACTThe pepper is among the ten most important vegetables in terms of economic value in Brazil, due to the culinary use and its nutritional properties, besides representing significant importance in family agriculture, mainly for integrating this with the agroindustry. However, analyzes carried out by ANVISA on peppers since 2001 show high levels of irregularities in the analyzed samples, 84% of which are caused by the presence of unauthorized pesticides used to control diseases and insects. Considering the relevance of these data, widely disseminated by the media and the increasingly frequent demand for synthetic residues free, the objective of this study is to highlight the obstacles of conventional cultivation and the potentialities of the organic cultivation of chili through the agroecological management of diseases and Insects. From the information gathered in this work, it is verified that the organic production of sweet pepper is a viable practice, and it is essential to improve new technologies compatible with this type of production, formulated according to the reality and availability of resources of the family farm.
