ABSTRACT. Porlolllls Ball: descriptions of five new species (Hemiptera, Auchenorrhyncha, Cicadcllidae, Xestocephalinae) from Mato Gmsso, Brasil. Five new species of Por/cml/s Ball, 1932, are deseribe.d: P. /elll1ae n. sp., P. mariae n. sp., P. piC/lIS n. sp., P. linealus n. sp., P. xavolI/es n. sp. Ii'om Rondônia, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul e São Paulo, Brazil.

Description of two new species of Portanus Ball, 1932 (Hemiptera: Cicadellidae: Portanini) from Northeastern Brazil

Until 2009, one more species was transferred to Portanus and 41 new species were described (DeLong 1976, 1980, 1982, Kramer 1961, 1964, DeLong & Linnavuori 1978, Linnavuori & DeLong 1979, Carvalho & Cavichioli 2001, 2003, 2004a, 2004b, 2005, so the genus then included 52 described species, all from the Neotropical region.…”

A new synonym and description of two new species of Portanus (Hemiptera, Cicadellidae, Xestocephalinae) from Brazil and Bolivia

“…The author also included in it Scaphoideus longicornis Osborn, 1923. That new genus has been associated to the Deltocephalinae genera Scaphoideus Uhler, 1889 andOsbornellus Ball, 1932 due to its general appearance and venation (Ball,1932). Oman (1936) revised the genera of American Bythoscopinae and the South America Iassinae and transferred two additional Scaphoideus species to Portanus: Scaphoideus boliviensis Baker, 1923 wherein synonymized as S. bicolor Osborn, 1923nec S. bicolor Ball, 1909, and S. hasemani Baker, 1923, with S. punctulatus Osborn, 1923nec S. punctulatus Melichar, 1903(Carvalho & Cavichioli, 2001. Later, Linnavuori (1959) transferred two additional Scaphoideus species to this genus.…”
