“…The instrument has been adapted and validated crossculturally for use in the Brazilian population (Kessler et al, 2007) and includes objective questions (number, severity, and duration of symptoms throughout life, in the 30 days before the interview, and in the last 6 months) as well as subjective questions-perception of the severity of current problems and the need for treatment in each area (Cacciola et al, 2011;Kessler et al, 2007).…”

“…Diagnostic confirmation was performed using the Mini-International Neuropsychiatric Interview (MINI) - short version, which is a semi-structured questionnaire that is routinely used worldwide to evaluate psychiatric diagnoses in adults, is compatible with the DSM-IV-TR and ICD-10 criteria [29,30] and has been previously used in other studies by our group [31,32]. Other evaluations included the Addiction Severity Index-6 (ASI-6) to determine the gravity of addiction [33,34], cubes and vocabulary subtests of the Wechsler Intelligence Scale (WAIS) to briefly evaluate intelligence [35] and the Adult ADHD Self-Report Scale (ASRS) to screen for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) [36]. ADHD screening was considered positive when 6 or more of 18 questions were reported as ‘often' or ‘very often'.…”
