Entrepreneurship, and individuals' predisposition toward entrepreneurial activities in particular, i.e. Individual Entrepreneurial Orientation (IEO), has been gaining increasing relevance in academia and management practice alike. Understanding IEO is a critical element not only for its promotion, but for better and more informed managerial and investor decision making as well. As such, this study proposes a new framework for understanding and measuring IEO based on the integrated use of cognitive mapping and the interactive multiple criteria decision making (TODIM) method. We present the steps for building such a framework, as well as a practical application of these steps. The results are promising: the methodology applied allowed a large number of determinants of IEO and their relationships to be mapped; and, subsequently, ranked and weighted for the creation of an IEO measurement tool. The implications of the resulting framework for theory and practice, its limitations and possibilities for further research are also discussed.

The majority of Junior Secondary School (JSS 3) students find it extremely challenging to select the most appropriate subject area for Senior Secondary School 1(SSS 1) due to diverse conflicting decision criteria such as friends and parents' influence in the decision-making process. The decision problem is extremely important for the students and the society at large because making the wrong choice may negatively affect the students' academic performance at the senior secondary school level and the tertiary school level. To assist students in making the appropriate choice for their future career development a decision support system based on the VIKOR method is presented. The technique has substantial mathematical calculation and to make the use of the tool simple it was implemented in PHP programming language. The decision support system software was tested with an example of a JSS 3 student transiting to SSS1 subject area selection problem. Three alternative subject areas: science, social science, and art are considered. The performance of the three subject areas was evaluated with respect to five decision criteria: student academic performance, parents influence, student interest, career prospect, and friends/peers' influence. The result of the analysis showed that science is the best subject area for the student. The developed software is flexible as it can solve multicriteria decision problem with numerous alternatives and decision criteria. The decision support system software was further validated by using it to analyse a decision problem in the literature previously solved with a TOPSIS based license software. The analysis showed that the decision support system software produces the same result as the TOPSIS based license software.

The paper focuses on the application of TODIM (TOmada de Decisao Interativa Multicriterio), which means in Portuguese 'interactive and multi-criteria decision making') method in identifying the most attractive and affordable under-construction housing project in the city of Kolkata in India. In this decision making problem, 14 under-construction housing projects spanning in and around Kolkata are evaluated with respect to ten important criteria. The deployment of TODIM method can well be validated with respect to its ability to deal with both qualitative and quantitative criteria in the presence of risk factors. This method is also acknowledged to be a robust tool being almost unaffected by the varying values of the attenuation factor of losses. Using TODIM method, an under-construction housing project at Rajarhat in the eastern fringes of Kolkata city is selected as the optimal choice while meeting the requirements of investors, inhabitants and other stakeholders.
