Abstract: Desde a segunda metade dos anos de 1970, observase um movimento de interiorização da população e da atividade econômica no Estado de São Paulo 1 . Nessa década, o Estado convivia com uma única grande conglomeração urbana, a Região Metropolitana de São Paulo (RMSP).
