Determinação de parâmetros físico-químicos e da origem botânica de méis indicados monoflorais do sudeste do Brasil

Abstract: DETERMINAÇÃO DE PARÂMETROS FÍSICO-QUÍMICOS E DA ORIGEM BOTÂNICA DE MÉIS INDICADOS MONOFLORAIS DO SUDESTE DO BRASILIn accordance with Brazilian legislation all samples showed adequate water content. The level of reducing sugars from 10 samples was below the Brazilian quality parameters for honey, three presented a Schade/Gothe number of diastase activity below 8 and in one sample only a higher ash content. Pollen analysis showed that nearly 57% of the samples analyzed could be classified as monofloral honeys, c… Show more

“…The contribution of Eucalyptus as dominant pollen in honey samples was verified in others researches developed in the southeast region by Bastos et al (2003) in Cerrado in the State of Minas Gerais; by Barth et al (2005) Highly eusocial bees, such as A. mellifera, collect resources preferentially in plants that exhibit a mass-flowering syndrome, with numerous flowers opening in short time (Wilms et al 1996). This feature can be observed in many cultivated plants and invader species, explaining the occurrence of these pollen types in various samples, even as dominant pollen in some months.…”

“…Its inflorescences are distributed in the form of heads, where the reproductive organs and its corolla remain highly exposed, thus facilitating the collection of nectar and pollen by bees (Baylão Junior et al, 2008). Because of the considerable supply of food resources during winter, time of scarce resources, V. polyanthes is a species with beekeeping relevance and therefore its flowerings are widely used by beekeepers for honey production, much appreciated and with high commercial value (Barth, Maiorino, Benatti & Bastos, 2005;Baylão Junior et al, 2008).…”
