Os elevados índices de mortalidade materna no Brasil: razões para sua permanência

Abstract: O número de mortes maternas de um país constitui excelente indicador de sua realidade social, estando inversamente relacionado ao grau de desenvolvimento humano. Reflete, além dos fatores biológicos, o nível socioeconômico, a qualidade da assistência médica, a iniqüidade entre os gêneros e a determinação política de promoção da saúde pública.
