RESUMO -A cultura da macadâmia destaca-se como atividade promissora com vistas ao mercado externo. O Brasil está em 6º lugar na produção mundial, com cerca de 3% da produção. Há uma demanda crescente pelo produto, o que vem atraindo a atenção de investidores neste ramo do agronegócio. Um dos gargalos da macadamicultura é o elevado período de retorno do capital, sendo importante para o desenvolvimento da atividade o conhecimento do custo de produção e da lucratividade do investimento. Objetivouse, neste trabalho, fazer um levantamento da situação da cultura no Brasil e da viabilidade econômica da atividade. Foi realizada uma estimativa dos custos de produção entre os principais produtores e exportadores do País. Levou-se em consideração os indicadores econômicos: Valor Presente Líquido (VPL), Taxa Interna de Retorno (TIR), Pay-back e Pay-back descontado. Os resultados indicam que a cultura da macadâmia é uma atividade viável e que o sucesso do investimento depende da qualidade do produto. STUDY OF ECONOMICAL VIABILITY OF THE CULTURE OF MACADAMIA NUT IN BRAZILABSTRACT -The macadamia culture stands out as promising activity to the external market. Brazil is in the 6th place in the world production, with approximately 3% of the production. There is a growing demand for the product, the one that comes attracting the investors' attention in this segment of the agribusiness. One of the difficulties of the macadamia culture is the high period of return of the capital, being important for the development of the activity the knowledge of the production cost and of the profitability of the investment. It was aimed in this work to do a rising of the situation of the culture in Brazil and of the economical viability of the activity. An estimate of the production costs was accomplished among the main producers and exporters of the country. It was taken in consideration the economical indicators: Net Present Value (NPV), Internal Rate of Return (IRR), Pay-back and discounted Pay-back.The results indicate that the culture of macadamia is a viable activity and that the success of the investment depends on the quality of the product.

Computer-aided design of a coffee-dragging device

Dragging is the most costly and time-consuming stage of the coffee harvest. Therefore, its mechanization is important. The objectives of this study were to design, build, and evaluate the dynamics of a coffeedragging device in a laboratory setting. The prototype consists of a dragging device with rods mounted on a metal plate and a chassis. Computer-aided design (CAD) software was used to generate a solid second-order tetrahedral mesh for use in finite element analyses of the device and its parts. It was possible to simulate and display the device's errors and failures and generate data on part deformities, Von Mises tension, and equivalent efforts. Equations based on the Denavit-Hartenberg theory were developed to describe the dragging device kinematics, and the results obtained with these equations were compared to those for the design developed using the software program. A preliminary drawing analysis identified a lever-type system as the best configuration for the device, based on its simple construction and its ability to balance the weight of the project parts. The safety factor achieved was greater than 28. Adjustment of the vibration amplitude of the rods is possible using the eccentric shaft of the connecting rod drive. Finite element analyses was used to analyze the connecting rod and predict the likely failure points. Key words: Coffee Harvest, dragging prototype, CAD simulation ResumoNa colheita do café a etapa de derriça é a mais onerosa e que demanda maior tempo, por isso sua mecanização torna-se tão importante. Objetivou-se com este trabalho projetar, construir e avaliar a dinâmica de um dispositivo de derriça laboratorial para café. O protótipo consta de um dispositivo de derriça com hastes montadas em uma placa metálica e um chassi. O programa computacional CAD gerou uma malha sólida tetraédrica de segunda ordem por meio de análises de elementos finitos. Foi possível simular e mostrar erros ou falhas dos dispositivos e, também gerar dados, tais como a deformação da peça, tensão de Von Mises e esforços equivalentes. Para descrever a cinemática do dispositivo de derriça, foram desenvolvidas algumas equações baseadas na teoria de Denavit-Hartenberg, que foram comparadas ao projeto desenvolvido em programa computacional. A análise dos croquis apresentou o sistema tipo alavanca como a melhor configuração para o desenvolvimento do dispositivo, por ser de simples construção e que permita facilmente equilibrar as massas das peças do projeto. O fator de segurança alcançado foi superior à 28. O ajuste da amplitude de vibração das hastes foi possível com o eixo excêntrico de acionamento da biela. O estudo da biela e a previsão dos pontos de falha foi possível pela análise em elementos finitos. Palavras-chave: Colheita de café, protótipo de derriça, simulação em CAD

A B S T R A C TThe objective of this study was to describe the technological process involved in the drying kinetics of fresh-cut prickly pear shoots through numerical and analytical solutions. Shoots of two different prickly pear species were used, 'Gigante' and 'Miúda' . Drying was performed at different temperatures (50, 60, 70 and 80 °C) and weighing procedures were made continuously. The experimental data were expressed as moisture ratio. The Page model showed the best fit to the drying kinetics of minimally processed 'Gigante' and 'Miúda' prickly pear shoots, with the best coefficients of determination and Chi-square. Peleg and Wang & Singh models can not be used to simulate the drying of 'Gigante' and 'Miúda' prickly pear shoots within the evaluated range of temperatures, showing an incoherent graphic pattern.Modelos empíricos na descrição da cinética de secagem do broto da palma (Nopal) R E S U M OObjetivou-se neste trabalho descrever o processo tecnológico envolvido na cinética de secagem dos brotos da palma minimamente processados através de soluções numéricas e analíticas. Foram utilizados brotos provenientes de duas espécies de palma 'Gigante' e 'Miúda' . A secagem foi processada em diferentes temperaturas (50, 60, 70 e 80 °C). As pesagens foram efetuadas de forma contínua. Os dados experimentais foram expressos na forma de razão de umidade. O modelo de Page deteve o melhor ajuste para a cinética de secagem dos brotos da palma 'Gigante' e 'Miúda' minimamente processados, com os melhores coeficientes de determinação e qui-quadrado. Os modelos de Peleg e Wang & Singh não podem ser utilizados para simular o processo de secagem dos brotos da palma 'Gigante' e 'Miúda' dentro do intervalo de temperatura estudado, onde apresentam comportamento gráfico incoerente.
