Considering the worker’s health one of the Unified Health System (SUS) tasks, the Primary Health Care (PHC) and the Family Health Strategy (FHS) play an important role in the development of health actions in the field health-work. In Brazil, where the number of informal and domiciled jobs is high, the FHS becomes a reference in the workers’ health actions. Therefore, if the FHS is not attentive to the relation between professional occupation and disease, several diseases that affect workers can overload the system without obtaining a cure. The aim of this study is to evaluate doctors and nurses recognition of the Family Health Strategy on occupational diseases in Aparecida de Goiânia. This is a qualitative descriptive study and the data analysis was done by content analysis. The setting for this study contemplates FHS units in the municipality of Aparecida de Goiânia, Goiás. There were 8 Basic Health Units and 16 health professionals were interviewed. The data was collected in the participants of the interview workplaces, from February through April, 2013, after being approved by the Ethics and Research Committee. The discourses were analyzed according to Minayo (2007), using thematic analysis. The interviews were recorded and later transcribed for analysis. Among the 16 professionals interviewed we observed that only 3 (18.75%) received professional training on occupational health in their Institution, however the aim of the courses were towards situations of biological hazards and not about workers care. Practitioners reported lack of knowledge in the occupational health area, and also observed that the area is still undervalued and underexplored in the academic and professional fields, and even by the Municipality health management. Evaluating the academic education it is possible to observe the inadequacy of the subject workload, where professionals reported the lack of knowledge in the area and the low workload of the subject in the academic field. Conclusion: There is a need to raise awareness and interest of the municipality health managers and the health professionals, doctors and nurses, towards the relations work-health-disease and the need to capacitate these professionals, in order to assist the workers in a better way.

O objetivo deste estudo foi analisar a percepção dos funcionários da limpeza em uma instituição pública de ensino superior sobre condições de trabalho e saúde no meio universitário, comênfase para os aspectos físico-ambientais e psicossociais que determinam a saúde deste grupo no ambiente onde estão inseridos. Foi conduzida uma pesquisa qualitativa, utilizando-se a técnica de entrevista em profundidade junto a 16 funcionários da limpeza de ambos os sexos. Os trabalhadores têm a percepção de que não são devidamente valorizados. A maioria afirmou que o trabalho influencia negativamente a saúde, principalmente devido a dores osteomusculares, alergia aos produtos químicos de limpeza, exaustão e estresse pela sobrecarga de trabalho e falta de colaboração da comunidade universitária. Além disso, todos possuem percepção negativa da terceirização, em decorrência da alta rotatividade de empresas que inviabiliza o cumprimento de direitos trabalhistas, como férias regulares e décimo terceiro salário. Conclui-se que os trabalhadores da limpeza estão submetidos a condições desfavoráveis de trabalho, de modo que a consolidação de um ambiente universitário promotor de saúde para o trabalhador pressupõe uma construção conjunta que envolva o trabalhador, o âmbito comunitário e o administrativo. Faz-se necessário o desenvolvimento de modelos de promoção de saúde para os trabalhadores terceirizados no ambiente estudado.

RESUMO Objetivos: Identificar as atitudes apresentadas por acadêmicos de Medicina da UFJF/MG (2007) com relação a Riscos Ocupacionais (RO), Precauções Universais (PU) e Equipamentos de Proteção (EPI), bem como seus critérios para utilizá-los. Métodos: Utilizou-se a amostragem aleatória estratificada, com reposição, sendo selecionados 204 alunos do quinto ao décimo período do curso, dos quais 180 responderam. Resultados: a) 66,11% relatam participarem de procedimentos com RO durante a graduação e 55,2% afirmaram não conhecerem as PU; b) o conhecimento acerca do uso de EPI foi adquirido por meio de aulas (53,8%); na prática, por observação (37,2%); ou orientação de professores (28,8%); c) 79,4% dos alunos se consideram expostos aos vírus HIV/HBV; d) 10% declararam já terem sofrido acidente com risco biológico durante a graduação; e) 13,89% não são vacinados contra o vírus da hepatite B. Conclusões: Parte considerável dos alunos de Medicina apresenta déficits de conhecimentos acerca de PU. Apesar da relevante cobertura vacinal para hepatite B, os estudantes não realizam procedimentos sorológicos rotineiramente. As atividades práticas de ensino precocemente instituídas parecem influenciar positivamente no conhecimento acerca das PU. ABSTRACTObjectives: The objective was to identify the attitudes of medical students at UFJF/MG in 2007 concerning occupational risk (OR), universal precautions (UP), and personal protective equipment (PPE), as well as the criteria for their use. Methods: The method was based on stratified random sampling with replacement, and 180 of 204 selected students from the 5th to 10th semesters of undergraduate medical school responded. Results: More than half of the respondents reported being involved in procedures with OR during their undergraduate training, and 55.2% stated that they were unfamiliar with UP. Students had acquired knowledge about PPE through classes (53.8%), by practice and observation (37.2%), and through orientation from professors (28.8%). 79.4% of students considered themselves exposed to HIV/HBV. 10% reported having already suffered an accident involving biological risk during their undergraduate training. 13.8% were not vaccinated against hepatitis B. Conclusions: A large proportion of these medical students showed gaps in knowledge on UP. Despite relatively high HBV immunization coverage, the students did not submit to routine serological testing. Early practical training activities appeared to have a positive impact on acquisition of knowledge concerning UP.
