Show more

“…Only one samples presented a Cu and Pb content higher than 5000 g L −1 and 200 g L −1 , respectively, the maximum established by the Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food Supply [6]. The levels of As, Cu, and Pb found in this work were close to those obtained for cachaç a reported in the literature [11][12][13][14]. Table 2 Results (n = 4) for As, Cu and Pb determination in Brazilian sugar-cane spirits by GFAAS using internal standardization and by ICP-MS as a comparative technique.…”

“…GFAAS was employed as technique for determination of Cr, Sb [10], Al, Cd, Pb [11], Al, As, Fe, Mn, Ni [12], and As, Cu, Pb [13,14] in cachaç a. These methods circumvented matrix effects by employing matrix matching as the calibration method.…”

“…The quantification of metallic specie is important for product quality control, observing the inorganic composition assurance and the presence of toxic elements to humans [5]. These determinations are routinely performed by flame atomic absorption spectrometry (F AAS), [6][7][8][9], inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) [10], electrothermal atomic absorption spectrometry ET AAS [2,4,11,12,13] and UV-Vis spectrophotometry [14,15]. However, the energy dispersive X-ray fluorescence spectrometry (EDXRF) has not been explored for determination of inorganic species in sugar cane spirit.…”

“…[4][5][6][7][8] Excess lead intake also produces harmful effects on the human health since several organ systems are affected and nervous, gastrointestinal, reproductive, skeletal and biochemical activities are impaired. 9,10 Analysis of copper and lead in the sugar cane spirit is routinely carried out using flame atomic absorption spectrometry (F AAS), [11][12][13][14][15][16] inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) 17 and UV-Vis spectrophotometry. 18,19 The electroanalytical techniques can be used as an alternative method in analytical chemistry and offer the additional benefit of being compatible with the principles of green chemistry.…”
