Show more

“…Possibly, it is because the major viticultural areas of the world, which are actually in temperate regions, are free or do not have this disease as a major problem. Previous studies carried out in Brazil showed the effi ciency of triazol and strobilurin on grape rust control in fi eld (NARUZAWA et al, 2006); however, this study carried out in greenhouse approached the protective, curative and eradicative activities of these fungicides.…”

“…Symptoms of Asian grapevine leaf rust appear predominantly on leaves and occasionally on petioles, young shoots, and rachises (Leu, ). Only mature leaves show pustules, as unfolding young leaves are resistant to infection (Naruzawa et al ., ; Angelotti et al ., ). The resistance of young leaves is supposed to be related to stomatal development (Edwards, ); however, the higher susceptibility of older leaves compared to younger ones has also been reported for other Phakopsora species, which do not use stomata for penetration, such as P. pachyrhizi on soybeans (Furtado et al ., ), Phakopsora jatrophicola on Jatropha gossypiifolia (Seier et al ., ) and Phakopsora apoda on kikuyu grass ( Pennisetum clandestinum ; Adendorff & Rijkenberg, ).…”

“…Teliospores germinate in a large range of temperatures (10–30 °C) although the optimum temperatures for teliospore germination and basidiospore formation range from 15 to 25 °C (Edwards, ). Urediniospores germinate by a single germ tube and also at a wide range of temperatures (5–40 °C), although germination rates higher than 20% are observed only between 10 and 25 °C in the dark (Naruzawa et al ., ; Angelotti et al ., ). Whilst germination is favoured by the dark, it is not completely inhibited at low light intensities (Leu & Wu, ; Naruzawa et al ., ; Angelotti et al ., ).…”

“…continuous darkness and the lowest germination under continuous light. Naruzawa et al (11) evaluated the effect of light (light and dark) and temperature (5, 10. 15, 20 25, 30 35 and 40°C) on the germination of P. euvitis Ono and observed that absence of light provided the greatest germination to the temperature of 25°C, while the light or dark regime was indifferent to higher temperatures.…”
