Abstract: Recebido em 11/6/08; aceito em 9/12/08; publicado na web em 11/5/09 ADSORPTION OF PHOSPHATE IONS ON HYDROUS NIOBIUM OXIDE. The adsorption kinetics of phosphate on Nb 2 O 5 .nH 2 O was investigated at initial phosphate concentrations 0.25, 0.50 and 1.00 mg.L -1. The kinetic process was described by a pseudo-secondorder rate model very well. The adsorption thermodynamics was carried out at 298, 308, 318, 328 and 338 K. The positive values of both ∆H and ∆S suggest an endothermic reaction and increase in randomne… Show more

“…36 Moreover, the value of R L indicates that the adsorption was favorable in the concentration range studied for the materials prepared. 37 The maximum adsorption capacity (Q m ) calculated and estimated was 3.191 mg Cr 3+ per g of moringa seed cake, and the b value (or K L ) was 0.089 mg L −1 . The activated carbon showed a maximum adsorption capacity of 12.048 mg g −1 , which, given its high cost, is an unfeasible material for certain locations or treatments in larger quantities.…”

“…40 The increase in temperature caused an increase of the amount adsorbed at equilibrium, thus indicating an endothermic process. 37 The values of thermodynamic parameters obtained for the adsorption process at various temperatures are shown in Table 3.…”
