Show more

“…The experimental design was randomized block, arranged in factorial scheme with three growing seasons (2011, 2012 and 2013) x five dual-purpose wheat genotypes (BRS Tarumã,BRS Umbu,BRS Figueira,BRS Guatambu and BRS 277) x three cutting management (first cutting, second cutting and third cutting), and the treatments were arranged in three replicates. The cuttings were carried out at 0.30 m of height from the soil level until the last expanded leave, and then a manual clip was realized of all experimental unit in the height 0f 0.10 m from the soil level (Carvalho et al, 2015).…”

“…The number of ears per square meter (NEM), grain yield (YIELD), number of grains per ear (NGE), grain mass per ear (GME) , hectoliter weight (HW), dry matter productivity (DMP), fresh matter (FM), dry matter (DM), neutral detergent fiber (NDF), crude protein (PTN), lipids (LIP), acid detergent fiber (ADF), lignin (LIG), hemicellulose (HEM), cellulose (CEL), mineral material (MM), total carbohydrates (TC), non-fibrous carbohydrates (NFC), maximum air temperature (TMAX), minimum air temperature (TMIN), maximum air humidity (HMAX), minimum air humidity (HMIN), precipitation (PREC) and incident solar radiation (RAD) were recorded, according to the methodology of Carvalho et al (2015).…”

“…In this context, canonical correlations allow us to group variables of interest and determine associations between groups to enable indirect character selection (Cruz et al, 2012). For Carvalho et al (2015), canonical correlations show that there are modifications in the inter-relations of the morphological characters and the yield of grains according to cutting management. For Balbinot et al (2005), multiple regressions using stepwise analysis can be important tools for researchers, in order to select which attributes are determinant for the dependent character of interest.…”

“…Regarding to BRS 277 genotype, management with two cuts at the densities of 75; 225; 300 and 375 plant m -2 presented magnitude equal or superior than other managements; however, at the density of 150 plant m -2 higher magnitude of LAE was obtained in the management with one cut. According to Carvalho et al (2015), dual purpose wheats shows tolerance to defoliation and proper recovery of leaf area according to the severity of the cuts. Wheat productivity is associated with the accumulation of dry matter in pre anthesis (Fioreze and Rodrigues, 2014).…”

“…Wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) is characterized as an annualcycle Poaceae, considered a staple cereal in food and feed. Besides use in the form of grains, it can be used as fodder, making it possible to perform animal grazing or mechanical cutting of the foliar area during the vegetative stages and later to harvest the grains from the physiological maturation.Wheat genotypes used for dual purpose have specific morphological characteristics such as high dry matter production, grazing/ defoliation tolerance, high yield potential and long growing season (Carvalho et al, 2015). These features enable the farmer to maximize business efficiency; therefore, enables the production of grains beyond as a forage alternative in seasons where the available volume is low (Martin et al, 2010;Martin et al, 2013).…”
