Resumo:O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar as alterações na microbiota do trato intestinal e desempenho zootécnico de alevinos de tilápia do Nilo (Oreochromis niloticus) alimentados com dietas suplementadas com Lactobacillus plantarum. Cento e vinte alevinos revertidos sexualmente foram distribuídos em seis caixas, divididos em dois tratamentos, em triplicata: alevinos alimentados com dieta suplementa com L. plantarum e alevinos alimentados com dieta controle. Após 42 dias, as tilápias alimentadas com a dieta suplementada com L. plantarum apresentaram maior número de bactérias ácido-lácticas, 3,5x104 UFC e 1,1x10 2 UFC por g de trato, e menor de bactérias totais, 5,8x106 UFC e 5,2x10 7 UFC por g de trato intestinal, em relação aos alimentados com dieta controle, além de incrementar em 3,9% o ganho em peso semanal, 15,6% a biomassa final e 15,5% eficiência alimentar. O uso de probiótico na alevinagem de tilápia eleva a produtividade. Palavras-chave: cultivo de peixes; probióticos; tilápia. Abstract:The objective of this study was to evaluate alterations in the intestinal tract microbiota and growth performance of Nile tilapia (Orechromis niloticus) fed diets supplemented with Lactobacillus plantarum. One hundred and twenty sexually reversed fingerlings were stocked in six aquaria and divided into two treatments, in triplicate: fingerlings fed diet supplement with L. plantarum and fingerlings fed control diet. After 42 days, tilapia fed the diet supplemented with L. plantarum had higher amount of lactic acid bacteria, 3,5x10 4 CFU and 1,1x10 2 CFU per g tract, and lower total bacteria, 5,8x10 6 CFU and 5,2x10 7 CFU per g tract, than the fish fed the control diet. Furthermore, probiotics increased 3,9% the weekly weight gain, 15,6% final biomass and 15,5% feed efficiency. The use of probiotics in tilapia hatcheries boosts productivity.

Isolation and evaluation of autochthonous Bacillus subtilis strains as probiotics for fat snook (Centropomus parallelus Poey, 1860)

Summary The objective of this study was to isolate and select autochthonous strains of Bacillus subtilis from the fat snook, Centropomus parallelus, and examine the viability of the Bacillus bacteria to determine their beneficial effect on gut colonization in reared fish. Twenty strains of Bacillus were isolated and further confirmed as B. subtilis using PCR. Among the 20 strains, two strains (B02 and B03) exhibited an inhibitory performance against five tested pathogens. The Bacillus strains B02 and B03 were added to the fish ration, and after 30 days the number of viable colonies were maintained or increased under the conditions of refrigeration (5°C), freezing (−18°C), or room temperature (30°C). These strains showed a growth rate of 0.18–0.21 h and a doubling time of 3.34–3.9 h. Both strains were tolerant to variations in NaCl, and B03 was also tolerant to bile exposure. The ability to colonize the gastrointestinal tract was also examined in healthy fat snook juveniles fed diets enriched for 30 days with strains B02 and B03. The amount of B. subtilis in the gastrointestinal juvenile tract was significantly higher in fish fed the enriched ration compared to controls. Based on these results, strains B02 and B03 were considered as candidate probiotics for fat snook.

Lactic acid bacteria are groups of bacteria that have been commonly used as probiotics with functional targets controlling pathogens. In this study, BAL were isolated from penaeid shrimp intestinum was captured in natural waters and were tested of antibacterial activity against 3 types of pathogenic vibrio bacteria in shrimp. The shrimp samples were taken from the North Coast of Java (Situbondo and Semarang) and the South coast of Java (Cilacap). BAL isolation was done by pour plate method using MRS medium enriched with CaCO3. The antibacterial activity test was performed by using paper diffusion method using V. harveyi, V. anguilarum and V. parahaemolyticus as bacteria indicator. The isolation result obtained 224 isolates of BAL intestinal of penaeid shrimp. The active BAL isolates against V. Harveyi, V. anguilarum and V. parahaemolyticus were 59, 83 and 66 isolates, respectively. Isolates are active against 3 types, 2 types and 1 type of Vibrio were 51, 25 and 11 isolates respectively.Keyword : lactic acid bacteria, antibacteria, vibrio, penaeid shrimp Bakteri asam laktat merupakan kelompok bakteri yang telah banyak digunakan sebagai probiotik dengan target fungsional mengendalikan pathogen. Pada penelitian ini telah dilakukan isolasi BAL dari intestinum udang penaeid yang ditangkap di perairan alam dan pengujian aktivitas antibakteri terhadap 3 jenis bakteri vibrio pathogenik pada udang. Sampel udang diambil dari Pantai Utara Jawa (Situbondo dan Semarang) dan pantai Selatan Jawa (Cilacap). Isolasi BAL dilakukan dengan metode taburan menggunakan medium MRS yang diperkaya dengan CaCO3. Uji aktivitas antibakteri dilakukan dengan paper diffusion method menggunakan bakteri uji V. harveyi, V. anguilarum dan V. parahaemolyticus. Hasil isolasi diperoleh 224 isolat BAL intestinal udang penaeid. Isolat BAL yang aktif terhadap V. Harveyi, V. anguilarum dan V. parahaemolyticus berturut-turut 59, 83 dan 66 isolat. Isolat yang aktif terhadap 3 jenis, 2 jenis dan 1 jenis Vibrio uji berurut-turut 51, 25 dan 11 isolat. Kata Kunci : bakteri asam laktat, antibakteri, vibrio, udang penaeid
