Show more

“…The high inter-annual variability of rainfall in the region results in variability in the flooding regimes, and possibly in the phenological profiles. Adami et al (2008) emphasized that, in the Pantanal, different kinds of vegetation receive different amounts of rainfall, in different locations and, consequently, have different spectral responses. So, the small variations in mean peak time might be the result of intra-regional rainfall differences, since the rainfall is significantly higher in some parts of the surrounding uplands of Pantanal, particularly in the north (EDIBAP unpubl.…”

“…Comparing the year 2006 with the year 2015, the median increases to 0.69 ( Figure 1). The maximum NDVI in the vegetation generally occurs in June, two months after the rainy season (Gurgel et al, 2003;Adami et al, 2008). Júnior et al (2008), characterize the behavior of NDVI with higher values in the rainy season.…”

“…The MODIS images are geotagged and corrected for atmospheric effects, such as aerosols and clouds, and are distributed for free. Its products are commonly used for the detection of anthropogenic and natural changes in land cover and vegetation cover phenology (Bedia et al, 2015;Fajardo & Gundale, 2015) and monitoring of spatio-temporal dynamics of biomes (Adami et al, 2008). Other MODIS sensor applications include the detection of fires (Yebra et al, 2008;Huesca et al, 2009), dynamic monitoring of rivers (Cerdà & Lasanta, 2005;Keesstra et al, 2014), the estimation of biophysical properties of the Earth's surface and the land use and occupation (Table I).…”
