No segundo ensaio, utilizou-se um grupo controle que recebeu ração livre de aflatoxina, o qual foi inoculado com solução salina (grupo 1) e Aeromonas hydrophila (grupo 2), bem como grupos de animais que receberam ração contendo 0,350 mg.kg feed -1 de aflatoxina (grupo 3); 0,757 mg.kg feed -1 de aflatoxina (grupo 4); e 1,177 mg.kg ração -1 de aflatoxina (grupo 5), sendo estes grupos inoculados com Aeromonas hydrophila. A sobrevivência e o comprimento total dos alevinos foram influenciados pelos tratamentos (p < 0,05). A ação sinérgica de aflatoxinas e Aeromonas hydrophila mostrou-se eficaz ao provocar a morte dos alevinos e influenciar a conversão alimentar e comprimento. ABSTRACT:The objectives of this study were to assess the effect of the intake of aflatoxin on the development of tilapia and to evaluate the impact of inoculation with Aeromonas hydrophila on performance parameters, so these two individual tests were performed. One hundred and twenty fingerlings aged 35 days old, with mean weight of 1.55 ± 0.005 g and mean length of 5 cm were used in each test, distributed in 20 tanks. Each experimental unit consisted of a 60 L tank with six fingerlings. In the first experiment, increasing levels of aflatoxin (0.350, 0.757, 1.177 mg.kg feed -1 ) were used as treatments and, for the control group, a diet without aflatoxin was used in a completely randomized design with four treatments and five replicates. In the second experiment, a control group of Nile tilapia fingerlings was used and received a diet without aflatoxin, inoculated with saline solution (group 1) and Aeromonas hydrophila (group 2), as well as groups of animals fed on diets containing 0.350 mg.kg feed -1 of aflatoxin (group 3), 0.757 mg.kg feed -1 of aflatoxin (group 4) and 1.177 mg.kg feed -1 of aflatoxin (group 5), and these groups were inoculated with Aeromonas hydrophila. The survival rate and the total length of fingerlings were influenced by the treatments (p < 0.05). The synergistic action of aflatoxins and Aeromonas hydrophila was effective and caused the death of experimental fish, thus affecting feed conversion and length.

RESUMO -Neste trabalho foi avaliado o efeito de um adsorvente (aluminossilicato de cálcio e sódio) no desempenho de alevinos de jundiá (Rhamdia quelen) alimentados com rações contendo níveis crescentes de aflatoxina. Foram utilizados 360 peixes com peso inicial de 4,2 ± 0,6 g, criados em sistema de recirculação da água termorregulada, durante 90 dias, e alimentados com rações contendo um dos quatro níveis de aflatoxinas (0, 150, 250 e 350 μg/kg), com e sem inclusão de adsorvente (0, 0,3 e 0,6%), com três repetições. O uso de aflatoxina teve efeito negativo sobre o crescimento e o ganho de peso dos alevinos, que reduziram proporcionalmente aos níveis de aflatoxina, mas não ocasionou mortalidade. Os níveis de adsorvente na dieta não diminuíram os efeitos das aflatoxinas no desempenho dos peixes, mas diminuíram a aceitação da ração, em virtude da palatabilidade do produto. Não é recomendável a utilização de aluminossilicato de cálcio e sódio como adsorvente de aflatoxinas em rações para alevinos de jundiá. Three hundred and sixty fish, with initial weight of 4 g, were raised in a thermo-regulated recirculation water system, during 90 days. Twelve treatments with four aflatoxin levels in diet (0, 150, 250 and 350 μg/kg), with and without adsorbents (0, 0.3 and 0.6%) were tested in three replications. The results showed that the negative effect of aflatoxins significantly reduced the growth and weight gain of fingerlings, proportionately to the increasing levels of aflatoxin in diet, with mortality occurrence. The adsorbent levels in diet did not diminish the effects of aflatoxin action on fish performance due to the low inclusion and also little acceptance of ration in relation to the product palatability. The phosphotransfer network system, through the enzymes creatine kinase (CK), adenylate kinase (AK), and pyruvate kinase (PK), contributes to efficient intracellular energetic communication between cellular adenosine triphosphate (ATP) consumption and production in tissues with high energetic demand, such as cerebral tissue. Thus, the aim of this study was to evaluate whether aflatoxin B (AFB) intoxication in diet negatively affects the cerebral phosphotransfer network related to impairment of cerebral ATP levels in silver catfish (Rhamdia quelen). Brain cytosolic CK activity decreased in animals fed with a diet contaminated with AFB on days 14 and 21 post-feeding, while mitochondrial CK activity increased, when compared to the control group (basal diet). Also, cerebral AK and PK activity decreased in animals fed with a diet contaminated with AFB on days 14 and 21 post-feeding, similarly to the results observed for cerebral ATP levels. Based on this evidence, inhibition of cerebral cytosolic CK activity is compensated by stimulation of mitochondrial CK activity in an attempt to prevent impairment of communication between sites of ATP generation and ATP utilization. The inhibition of cerebral AK and PK activity leads to impairment of cerebral energy homeostasis, decreasing the brain's ATP availability. Moreover, the absence of a reciprocal compensatory mechanism between these enzymes contributes to cerebral energetic imbalance, which may contribute to disease pathophysiology.
