Different management systems tend to modify soil structure and porosity over the years. The aim of this study was to study modifications in the morphostructure and porosity of dystroferric Red Latosol (Oxisol) under conventional tillage and no-tillage over a 31-year period. The study began with the description of soil profiles based on the cropping profile method, to identify the most compact structures, define sample collection points for physical and chemical analysis, and determine the water retention curve. A forest soil profile was described and used as reference. The results showed that, under conventional tillage, the microaggregate structure of the Oxisol was fragmented between 0 and 0.20 m, and compact (bulk density = 1.52 Mg m -3 ) in the sub-surface layer between 0.20 and 0.50 m. Under no-tillage, the structure became compacted (bulk density = 1.40 Mg m -3 ) between 0 and 0.60 m, but contained fissures and biopores. The volume of the class with a pore diameter of ≥ ≥ ≥ ≥ ≥ 100 μ μ μ μ μm under no-tillage was limited, but practically non-existent in the conventional management system. On the other hand, the classes with a pore diameter of < 100 μ μ μ μ μm were not affected by the type of soil management system. ResumoO funcionamento de um sistema agrícola é melhor compreendido com abordagens experimentais multifatoriais relativas à ecologia do solo, envolvendo atributos físicos, químicos e biológicos. Este trabalho avaliou as influências de quatro sistemas de manejo do solo sobre os referidos atributos de um Latossolo Vermelho distroférrico no município de Rolândia -Paraná, com o objetivo de identificar variações para cada manejo. Foram avaliados: porosidade do solo, densidade do solo e de partículas, estabilidade de agregados, capacidade de campo e ponto de murcha permanente, granulometria, perfil cultural, características químicas e macrofauna invertebrada do solo. A atividade biológica apresentou relação com as estruturas observadas no perfil (µ, estruturas microagregadas) e com o aumento dos agregados entre 0,5 e 2 mm encontrados no tamisamento úmido. O manejo das áreas também modificou o perfil do solo, principalmente até 0,2 m de profundidade, especialmente na pastagem, em que o pisoteio do gado aumentou a densidade do solo em relação à semeadura direta. A disponibilidade de água tendeu a aumentar no sistema de semeadura direta, assim como houve uma tendência de maior quantidade de macroporos em relação à pastagem. A saturação de bases nas áreas agrícolas ficou entre 50 e 75%. A macrofauna de invertebrados diminuiu nas áreas agrícolas, em relação à mata. Palavras-chave: Plantio direto, pastagem, solo, macrofauna AbstractThe dynamics of an agricultural system are better understood by means of multifactor experimental approaches on soil ecology, involving physical, chemical, and biological attributes. This study evaluated the influence of four soil management systems on those attributes in a Typic Hapludox in Rolândia -State of Paraná, Brazil, in order to identify variations in each type of management. Evaluations included: soil porosity, bulk and particle density, aggregate stability, field capacity and permanent wilting point, granulometry, cropping profile, chemical characteristics, and soil invertebrate macrofauna. Biological activity showed a relationship with the structures observed in the profile (µ, microaggregate structures) and with the increase in aggregates between 0.5 and 2 mm found via the clod method. Soil management introduced changes in the soil profile, particularly down to a 0.2 m depth, especially in the pasture, where cattle trampling increased bulk density in relation to no-till. Water availability tended to increase in the no-till system, and there was also a tendency of higher number of macropores in relation to the pasture. Base saturation in the agricultural areas was between 50 and 75%. The invertebrate macrofauna decreased in agricultural areas, as compared to the forest.

RESUMOO sistema de plantio direto já está consagrado como sistema conservacionista de cultivo agrícola, o que motivou este trabalho, através do qual se visa analisar o tempo de consolidação deste sistema, considerando-se cultivos de milho com plantio direto implantado entre 2 e 14 anos. Esta análise foi feita por meio da medição da área das estruturas presentes no perfil cultural do solo com um SIG e, posteriormente avaliada pelo método estatístico de componentes principais. Constatou-se que as estruturas onde o plantio direto foi implantado há menos de 8 anos assemelharam-se às estruturas do sistema de plantio convencional, e quando implantado há mais de 9 anos, assemelharam-se às estruturas do perfil de floresta, concluindo-se que o período de consolidação do sistema de plantio direto situa-se entre o 9° e o 10° ano após a sua implantação, para as condições da área estudada. O excesso de detalhamento na nomenclatura das unidades morfologicamente homogêneas dificultou a análise dos dados.Palavras-chave: geoprocessamento, análise de componentes principais, unidades morfologicamente homogêneas, ArcView, método do perfil cultural Analysis of consolidation time of no-tillage system ABSTRACT The no-tillage system has already been acclaimed as a conservational system of agricultural cultivation, what has motivated this work, through which it was aimed to analyze the consolidation time of this system, considering maize plantations with no-tillage system implemented between 2 to 14 years. This analysis has been done through the measuring of areas of the present structures in the cropping profile with GIS and later, evaluated by the statistical method of principal components. The structures where no-tillage system has been implemented for less than eight years are similar to conventional cultivation, and where it has been implemented for more than nine years are similar to forest cultivation, leading to the conclusion that the period of consolidation of no-tillage system is between the ninth and tenth year after its implementation, for the conditions of the analyzed area. The excess of details in the nomenclature of morphological homogeneous units makes the data analysis difficult.
