Aim: The aim of this study was to survey the species of molluscs and to evaluate the effect of exotic species on the native mollusks of three reservoirs in the Pajeú Basin Cachoeira II, Jazigo and Serrinha. Methods: Sampling was carried out with trawl net (5 mm mesh opening) and hand net (2 mm mesh opening). Results and conclusions: Were quantified 60,244 specimens, distributed among the species Melanoides tuberculata (49,398), Pomacea lineata (573), Biomphalaria straminea (376) and Physa marmorata (01). The invasive exotic species M. tuberculata was dominant in all reservoirs with a relative abundance greater than 85% and the other species were classified as occasional and rare, with emphasis in Physa marmorata that is present in the red list of species vulnerable to extinction. Regarding the frequency of occurrence, all species were classified as euconstant (occurrence greater than 65%), except P. lineata and P. marmorata, which were classified as ancillary (occurrence less than 40%). Among the species, M. tuberculata were the highest average density (1,636 ind.m -2 ) in Serrinha reservoir, showed a strong adaptation to the environmental conditions, due to its high dominance in all the reservoirs, being probably the main cause for the low diversity and density indices of native molluscs. Since P. marmorata presented low density and frequency, becoming an important point to be investigated as possible species impaired by the dominance of M. tuberculata.

Em levantamento malacológico realizado no município de Mariana, (MG - Brasil), entre abril de 2003 e fevereiro de 2004, compreendendo os períodos do ano de seca e chuva, foram coletados 23271 moluscos, representados por 6 espécies e 4 famílias. Desses, 11147 exemplares de Biomphalaria glabrata, 12092 exemplares de Physa marmorata, 24 exemplares de Lymnaea columella, 02 exemplares de Melanoides tuberculatus, 04 exemplares de Drepanotrema anatinum e 02 exemplares de Drepanotrema lucidum. O encontro dos moluscos dos gêneros Physa, Lymnaea, Melanoides e Drepanotrema representa o primeiro relato para o município de Mariana. Entre os exemplares de Biomphalaria capturados, 111 mostraram-se positivos para Schistosoma mansoni e 23 mostraram-se positivos para diversas larvas de trematódeos. Um exemplar de Physa marmorata mostrou-se positivo para larva de trematódeo. A utilização de um receptor do sistema GPS possibilitou a localização precisa dos locais de coleta e a carta planorbídica para o município de Mariana foi elaborada, com informações sobre locais com presença de moluscos e as áreas de risco para a transmissão da esquistossomose.

The Guandu River Basin is extremely important to state of Rio de Janeiro, as a water supplier of several municipalities. However, the malacological knowledge and environmental status is not well known to this basin. The aim of this paper is to present an inventory of freshwater mollusks, as well as an environmental assessment through a Rapid Assessment Protocol, of ten sampling sites at Guandu River basin in six municipalities (Piraí, Paracambi, Japeri, Seropédica, Queimados and Nova Iguaçu). Thirteen species of molusks were found, eight native (Pomacea maculata, Biomphalaria tenagophila, Gundlachia ticaga, Gundlachia radiata, Omalonyx matheroni, Diplodon ellipticus, Anodontites trapesialis and Eupera bahiensis) and five exotics (Melanoides tuberculata, Ferrissia fragilis, Physa acuta, Corbicula fluminea and Corbicula largillierti). The environmental analysis ranked most sites as “modified”. The expansion of exotic species with their associated negative effects, as well the gap in knowledge of native species calls attention to the need of future studies of biology and ecology of the species found.
