Abstract: ABSTRACT. Autoecology of Hypsiboas albopunctatus (Anura, Hylidae) in an area of Cerrado in southeast of Brazil. Herein we present new data on the breeding activity of the Neotropical treefrog H. albopunctatus. Data was collected in the Municipality of Uberlândia, Minas Gerais State, Brazil. Behavioral events were observed focally. We determined the pattern of spatial distribution of the tadpoles. We compared abundance of tadpoles in lakes and swamps and correlated it with variation in depth, amount of vegetabl… Show more

“…As with other species, namely H. caipora, H. ericae (Caramaschi and Cruz, 2000) and H. joaquini (Garcia et al, 2003;Antunes et al, 2008;, H. curupi physically engage in territorial disputes, a trait that is detectable due to scarring on the backs of males. Our study, however, did not observe "satellite male" behavior, which is often reported in Hylidae species (Pombal and Haddad, 2005;Oliveira et al, 2007;Miranda et al, 2008;Muniz et al, 2008). Such behavior might have exacerbated differences in perch height between calling and non-calling males.…”

“…Giaretta, unpubl. data) gathered in winter months of 2004 within a study on tadpole ecology (Muniz et al 2008) in the same sampled sites and using the same sampling methods, were also considered. On September 2004 (after the first sampling), a fire severely destroyed vegetation at CP, including Vereda habitats.…”
