Avaliação da variabilidade da freqüência cardíaca em mulheres climatéricas treinadas e sedentárias

Abstract: The study suggests that aerobic training may have afforded a significant improvement in the autonomic cardiac function of the menopausal women in the active group, and may be a useful option for preserving this functional condition without the need for hormonal replacement therapy.

“…This improvement in HRV was also seen in other studies. Jurca et al described an increase in the RMSSD, HFms 2 and LFms 2 indexes in postmenopausal women after 8 weeks of aerobic training, and Paschoal et al found that carrying out low‐intensity aerobic activity (at least 1 h walk daily, 3 times a week) also promoted a significant increase in SDNN, RMSSD and pNN50 in postmenopausal women when compared with sedentary women …”

“…Menopausal women have a lower HRV when compared with women who are not in menopause . Furthermore, significant reductions are observed for the RR intervals and changes in baroreceptor decline of left ventricular systole . By associating the changes induced by menopause and the deleterious effects caused by the natural aging process, such as decline in aerobic and functional capacity, and muscle capacity to generate maximum force, as well as the deterioration of the sensory system, we observed the need to seek ways to minimize the physiological loss in women arising from both processes …”
