“…Despite the direct measure being more precise and considered the main clinical measurement method, a big cut of the population doesn't get access to it, due to its high price, extended procedure time and great risk of cardiovascular events in HD patients (COOK et al, 2001;PIERSON et al, 2003;MCAULEY et al, 2006;ROCHA et al, 2006;DOMINGUES, 2010;CARVALHO et al, 2011). The result presented by VSAQ's application in this study has presented itself lower than other studies (Table 5) meaning that the sample patients have higher functional loss and greater mortality risk (COOK et al, 2001;PIERSON et al, 2003;MCAULEY et al, 2006).…”

“…An adverse autonomic condition is frequently associated with a greater mortality risk due to cardiovascular causes and all causality [1][2][3][4] , primarily because of a decrease in cardiac vagal activity (CVA) 1,[5][6][7] . This lower vago-dependent cardioprotection can be evaluated by the different heart rate (HR) behaviors, such as in situations of rest 2 and exercise [8][9][10] . Therefore, HR modulation has been widely used as a tool for analysis of the CVA, and is considered a potent and independent prognostic indicator of mortality 11 .…”
