Parasitóides de Chrysomya megacephala (Fabricius) coletados em Itumbiara, Goiás

Abstract: This study determined the species of parasitoids associated with Brief ComunicationsPieces of bovine kidney served as the bait for the flies and were placed inside the cans, on a layer of earth. Five traps were utilized, and these were hung from eucalyptus trees (Eucalyptus sp.) at a height of 1 meter off the ground and a separation of 2 meters from each other, at a distance of 50 meters from domestic garbage. The adult individuals collected were taken to the laboratory, sacrificed using ethyl ether and preser… Show more

“…Nasonia vitripennis (Pteromalidae) was the most abundant parasitoid recorded in this study and clearly dominated the assemblages in spring and summer. Its host range is rather broad, including species in the genus Chrysomya (Calliphoridae), Peckia and Oxysarcodexia (Sarcophagidae) and Musca (Muscidae) ( Carvalho et al 2003 ; Marchiori 2004 , 2005 , 2006 ), and its predominance coincides with the highest number of blow fly species in the carcasses.…”

“…On ber, this dipteran fly is known to forage both for pollen and nectar and thus it plays an important role in the pollination of ber fruit crop (Devi et al, 1989). The eggs and larvae of C. megacephala are parasitized by a number of parasitoids such as Brachymeria podagrica (Fabricius) (Chalcididae), Tachinaephagus zealandicus Ashmead (Encyrtidae), Nasonia vitripennis (Walker) (Pteromalidae) and Pachycrepoideus vindemiae (Rondani) (Pteromalidae) (Marchiori, 2004;Devi et al, 2010). In Punjab, this fly has been observed as a pollinator on many fruit crops including ber.…”

“…The genus Brachymeria Westwood includes about 350 described species worldwide (Noyes, 2019), with 37 species in the Neotropical Region (Delvare and Huchet, 2017). Brachymeria species are significant parasitoids of calyptratae flies, such as Sarcophagidae, Calliphoridae and Muscidae (Marchiori et al, 2002a;Marchiori et al, 2002b;Marchiori et al, 2003;Marchiori, 2004;Marchiori and Silva Filho, 2004;Couri et al, 2006;Oliva, 2008). Most species are solitary endoparasitoids with a koinobiont strategy.…”
