A study of the arthropod fauna from bovine dung pats in the State of Goiás, Brazil, was carried out from January to December, 1998. Twenty samples of bovine dung were taken at random, each month, from eight day old pats, placed in plastic containers and taken to the laboratory. The arthropods were extracted by flotation in water in order to determine the frequency of Coleoptera, Diptera, Hymenoptera and Macrochelidae (Acarina) considered important in the degradation of cattle dung, and in the control of dung flies. Fifty two arthropod species belonging to 10 families were collected: 20 of Coleoptera (three families), 12 of Diptera (three families), 10 of Hymenoptera (three families) and six of Macrochelidae (Acarina).
The objective of this paper was to report on the occurrence of parasitoids of Tuta absoluta Meyrick (Lepidoptera: Gelechiidae) on tomato plants, under greenhouse conditions, in Lavras County . The rate of parasitism for the three species was 4.2%, 0.2%, and 2.6%, respectively. This is the first reported occurrence of Earinus sp. parasitizing Tuta absoluta in Brazil.
This paper deals with 11 species of Cynipoidea parasitoids of dung-flies in Brazil: Neralsia splendens (Borgmeier 1935), Triplasta (Triplasta) atrocoxalis (Ashmead 1895), Triplasta (Pentaplasta) coxalis (Ashmead 1895), Acantheucoela armata (Cresson 1865), Acantheucoila brevispina Dettmer 1930, Acantheucoila coprophila Borgmeier 1935, Acantheucoila fumipennis Borgmeier 1935, Coneucoela brasiliensis Kieffer 1909, Ganaspis fulvocincta Kieffer 1909, Kleidotoma nigra (Hartig 1840), and Paraganaspis egeria Diaz & Gallardo 1996. An illustrated key for their identification, the hosts and the geographic distribution for each species are also given.
Abstract:Pachycrepoideus vindemmiae (Rondani) (Hymenoptera: Pteromalidae) is a solitary parasitoid containing a great number of Diptera in the families Anthomyiidae, Calliphoridae, Muscidae, Tachinidae and Tephritidae. This species presents a diversified distribution and it has been found in North America, Canada and Africa The study determined the species of hosts of the parasitoid P. vindemmiae in cattle dung, human feces, manure kidneys, cattle liver, pig carcass, fish and fruit. The pupae were obtained by the flotation method. They were individually placed in gelatin capsules until the emergence of adult flies or their parasitoids. The overall percentage of parasitism was 6.8%. Through this study, knowledge of the bioecology and geographical distribution of parasitoids of dipterous in Brazil.
