The AIDS epidemic in the Amazon region: a spatial case-control study in Rondonia, Brazil

Abstract: OBJECTIVE:To analyze spatial changes in the risk of AIDS and the relationship between AIDS incidence and socioeconomic variables in the state of Rondonia, Amazon region. “…Sobre a distribuição dos casos, Schossler e colaboradores (2016) 2 indicam que a epidemia mundial da AIDS, apesar de concentrada principalmente em grandes centros, tem se disseminado para municípios de médio e pequeno porte.Estudos apontam que na década de 90 do século passado a maior parte dos casos notificados de AIDS eram homossexuais e, em menor frequência, casos associados às transfusões de sangue/hemoderivados.
