Objetivo : analisar os fatores que interferem no desempenho de usuários de implante coclear em testes de percepção de fala.Métodos : foram aplicados questionários e testes de percepção de fala em 25 indivíduos, de ambos os sexos, portadores de perda auditiva neurossensorial e usuários de IC unilateral.Resultados : - 48% dos participantes atingiram bom desempenho nos resultados dos testes de percepção de fala, apresentando porcentagens maiores ou iguais a 50 % de acertos. - Os participantes que obtiveram melhores resultados não são necessariamente os que possuem maior idade auditiva. - Dos 12 participantes que atingiram desempenho acima de 50%, 10 (83,3%) foram implantados mais precocemente (até 5 anos). - O uso do AASI na orelha contralateral influenciou significantemente nos índices de reconhecimento das palavras ou sentenças. - Os participantes que iniciaram o uso de AASI mais cedo não foram necessariamente os que apresentaram melhores resultados nos testes.Conclusão : a ativação mais precoce dos IC mostrou-se uma variável importante no desempenho dos testes. - O uso do AASI na orelha contralateral influenciou significantemente nos índices de reconhecimento das palavras ou sentenças.

Background: auditory temporal processing. Aim: to determine the performance profile of normal hearing children in temporal sequence and order detection and identification tasks in free-field. Method: forty three children with ages raging from 7 to 11 years and 5 months were evaluated in two behavioral tests -frequency patterns test (FPT) and duration patterns test (DPT) -child's version by Auditec. Both tests were applied at 60 dBNA in free-field. Children were requested to provide two types of answers: nonverbal (NV) being murmuring for FPT and manual for DPT, and verbal (V), nomination for TPF and TPD. For both tests (FPT and DPT), ten repetitions of six sequence patterns totalizing 60 stimuli were presented to each child. Results: the performance on FPT with a non-verbal response was significantly better when compared to V response for all of the subjects. Significant performance improvements with age were observed in VFPT, NVDPT and VDPT. The performance on FPT was better than the performance on PDT. The results of this study showed similar performance on temporal sequence and order detection and identification tasks when compared to other studies conducted with Brazilian population in which these tasks were applied with supra-aural earphones. Conclusion: the values obtained for FPT and DPT can be considered the parameter of normal performance for Auditec's child version in free-field for children with ages between 7 to 11 years and 5 month. Objetivo: determinar o perfil de desempenho de crianças com audição normal nas tarefas de detecção e identificação da ordem e seqüência temporal em campo livre. Método: avaliou-se 43 crianças com idade entre 7 anos e 11 anos e 5 meses em dois testes comportamentais -Teste de Padrões de Freqüência (TPF) e Teste de Padrões de Duração (TPD) -versão infantil da Auditec. Os testes foram aplicados em campo livre a 60 dBNA. Foram solicitados dois tipos de respostas: não verbal (NV) sendo o murmúrio para o TPF e manual para o TPD, e verbal (V), nomeação pra TPF e TPD. Para ambos os testes (TPF e TPD) foram apresentadas 10 repetições dos 6 padrões seqüenciais, totalizando 60 estímulos para cada criança. Resultados: o desempenho no TPF com resposta NV foi significativamente superior à resposta V para todos os sujeitos. Constatou-se melhora significativa do desempenho com a idade para o TPFV, TPDNV e TPDV. O desempenho no TPF foi superior ao TPD. Os resultados deste estudo demonstraram semelhante desempenho nas tarefas de detecção e identificação da ordem e seqüência temporal quando comparados com outros estudos realizados na população brasileira, nos quais estas tarefas foram aplicadas com fones supra-aurais. Conclusão: os valores obtidos para o TPF e TPD podem ser considerados como referência de normalidade para a versão infantil da Auditec em campo livre em crianças de 7 anos a 11 anos e 5 meses.

Purpose: Evaluate the results of the different forms of responses in the melodic temporal ordering test in relation to frequency and duration. Methods: The sample was composed of 33 subjects, for convenience, aged between 17 and 27 years old, normal hearing individuals, presenting no complaints regarding auditory processing and having no hearing impairment, syndromes or craniofacial malformation history; no physical disability (manual), as well as no neurological and speech impairment and education level greater than nine years. They were subjected to the temporal ordering test with musical tone, called melodic Duration Pattern Test (DPT) and Frequency Pattern Test (FPT), applied under three response conditions (motor, humming and motor), performed on the same date. For that, at a first moment, the induvial were asked to recognize the stimuli verbally, then characterize the stimuli in an imitative pattern and, finally, to recognize the stimuli in manual responses. Results: Statistically significant differences were not observed between the three forms of responses for DPT and FPT. However, it is remarkable that there was a greater number of changes for FPT than for DPT, regardless the form of response. Furthermore, motor and verbal responses presented more changes for humming, in FPT. Conclusion: The different forms of response (motor, humming and motor) for the melodic DPT and FPT did not change the results.Keywords: Hearing; Hearing tests; Auditory perception; Social discrimination; Auditory cortex RESUMO Objetivo: Avaliar os resultados nas diferentes formas de respostas no teste melódico de ordenação temporal para frequência e duração. Métodos: A amostra foi composta por 33 sujeitos, por conveniência, com idade entre 17 e 27 anos, normo-ouvintes, sem queixas de processamento auditivo e de histórico de risco para alterações auditivas, ausência de síndromes ou malformações craniofaciais, deficiência física (manual), bem como de alterações neurológicas e de linguagem e com escolaridade superior a nove anos de estudo. Os sujeitos foram submetidos ao teste de ordenação temporal com tom musical, a saber: Teste de Padrão de Duração (TPD) e Teste de Padrão de Frequência (TPF), aplicados sob três condições de respostas (verbal, humming e motor,) e realizados na mesma data. Para isso, os sujeitos foram solicitados, primeiramente, a reconhecer os estímulos verbalmente, em seguida a caracterizar os estímulos em um padrão imitativo e, por fim, a identificar os estímulos com respostas manuais. Resultados: Não houve diferenças significativas entre as três formas de resposta para o TPD e TPF. No entanto, observou-se que, para o TPF, houve maior número de alterações que o TPD, independente da forma de resposta. Ainda, as formas motor e verbal tiveram mais alterações que o humming, no TPF. Conclusão: As diferentes formas de respostas (verbal, humming e motor) para os testes TPD e TPF melódicos não alteram o seu resultado.
