Matriz Metaloproteinase 2: um importante marcador genético para colesteatomas

Abstract: Ai m: This study is to determine the MMP2's presence in cholesteatomas and whether complicating cholesteatomas show a higher immunohistochemical expression of matrix metalloproteinase 2. Cholesteatoma produces enzymesthat cause bone erosion like Matrixmetalloproteinase 2 (MMP2). Material and Methods:We analyzed the expression of MMP2 in invasive (causing complications) compared to latent cholesteatomas (not causing complications). A crosssectional study with nineteen slides and paraffin blocks of cholesteatoma… Show more

“…Both collagenase activity and the pressures applied on the bone walls of the middle ear are factors that may explain the bone erosion that accompanies cholesteatomas 1,4 ,. Collagenases are currently referred to as metalloproteinases and are present in middle ear cholesteatoma perimatrix 14 .…”

“…In people with acute myocardial infarction, an increase of 39% in the probability of ventricular remodeling was reported for each elevation of one unit in MMP 2 level (Cogni et al 2013). This substance behaves in a similar fashion when other tissues undergo either pathological or physiological remodeling (Navarro et al 2006, Morales et al 2007.…”
