Show more

“…Fungi with a hemibiotrophic lifestyle usually develop specialized structures called appressoria. The appressorium is a structure specialized in pathogen establishment during penetration; therefore, some species of the genus Colletotrichum depend on this structure because they penetrate the host tissue directly (Araujo and Stadnik, 2013). However, even in the Colletotrichum species that directly penetrate the epidermal cells, formation of appressoria is not necessary (Moraes et al ., 2013).…”

“…In a favorable environment for their development, the conidia germinate, producing the appressorium at the end of the germ tube or at the end of the hyphae of the mycelium, which are differentiated structures used to force entry into the surface of the plant. Thus, the fungus penetration into the host tissue, what follows with tissue colonization with rapid hyphae growth [4]. The disease mainly affects the fruits, causing necrotic lesions of circular shape, with dark coloration and variable diameters, from which a mucilaginous mass of orange color evolves, i.e.…”

“…(UFLA 39). The presence of CATs in species of Colletotrichum genus has been reported in common bean (Barcelos et al, 2014;Mota et al, 2016;Pinto et al, 2012) and apple (Araújo & Stadnik, 2013;Gonçalves & Stadnik, 2012).…”
