Resumo -O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar tendências das temperaturas mínimas e máximas no Estado de Minas Gerais. Foram avaliados dados de 43 municípios, tendo-se considerado as escalas anual e sazonal -janeiro, abril, julho e outubro, que representam os meses centrais de verão, outono, inverno e primavera, respectivamente. Séries históricas de temperaturas mínimas e máximas do ar diárias, com extensão mínima de 30 anos, foram analisadas com base no teste de Mann-Kendall e no uso de regressão linear simples. As tendências foram consideradas significativas somente quando ambas as avaliações foram significativas; neste caso, determinaram-se as taxas de alteração das temperaturas. Houve boa concordância entre os testes de significância para a detecção de tendências nas séries históricas, na maioria dos municípios. Observou-se tendência de elevação das temperaturas mínimas em julho de até 1,5ºC por década, com tendências generalizadas de aumento na maior parte do estado, em outubro e janeiro, e também na escala anual. Exceções foram verificadas especialmente em municípios de maiores altitudes, em que as temperaturas mínimas diminuíram no inverno. Há predominância de municípios com tendência significativa de aumento de temperaturas, independentemente da escala de avaliação. Tendências de aumento nas temperaturas são esperadas mais comumente no sentido sul-norte do Estado de Minas Gerais.Termos para indexação: agrometeorologia, aquecimento global, mudanças climáticas, teste de Mann-Kendall, variabilidade climática. Trends of minimum and maximum air temperatures in the state of Minas Gerais, BrazilAbstract -The objective of this work was to evaluate the trends in minimum and maximum air temperatures in the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil. Data from 43 municipalities were analyzed, considering annual and seasonal scales -January, April, July, and October, which represent the middle months of summer, autumn, winter, and spring, respectively. Historical series of minimum and maximum daily air temperatures, from at least 30 year, were analyzed by the Mann-Kendall test and linear regressions. Trends were considered significant only if both evaluations were significant; in this case, the rates of temperature shift were determined. There was good agreement between the statistical tests for detecting trends in the historical series, for most municipalities. An increasing temperature trend of up to 1.5 o C per decade was observed for minimum temperatures in July, with generalized increasing trends in the greatest part of the state in January and October, and also in the annual scale. Exceptions were verified mainly in municipalities at higher altitudes, in which minimum air temperatures decreased in winter. There is a predominance of municipalities with significant increasing temperature trend, regardless of the evaluation scale. Increasing temperature trends are expected to be more common in the south to north direction, in the state of Minas Gerais.

The Mann-Kendall test has been used to detect climate trends in several parts of the Globe. Three variance correction approaches (MKD, MKDD and MKRD) have been proposed to remove the influence of serial correlation on this trend test. Thus, the main goal of this study was to evaluate the probability of occurrence of types I and II errors associated with these three approaches. The results obtained by means of Monte Carlo simulations and from a case of study allowed us to drawn the following conclusions: All approaches are capable of meeting the adopted significant level when they are applied to trend-free uncorrelated series. The approaches are as powerful as the original MK test when they are applied to uncorrelated series. Regarding serially correlated series it was verified that: (i) the performance of the MKDD and MKRD are comparable; (ii) both approaches may not be able to preserve the adopted significance level and (iii) although the MKD is capable of preserving the adopted significance level, it is less powerful than the MKDD and MKRD. Thus, there is a trade-off between the power of the three approaches and their capability of meeting the nominal significance level. Accordingly, we recommend the use of at least two approaches -MKD and MKDD(MKRD)-to evaluate the presence of trends in a given dataset.Key words: Monte Carlo simulations, serial correlation, climate change. Teste de Mann-Kendall modificado: desempenho de três abordagens da correção da variânciaResumo O teste de Mann-Kendall (MK) vem sendo largamente utilizado para detectar tendências climáticas em diversas partes do globo. Três adaptações têm sido propostas (MKD, MKDD e MKRD) para remover a influência da correlação serial sobre o MK. O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar a probabilidade de ocorrência dos erros tipos I e II associada a essas três adaptações. Com base em simulações de Monte Carlo e em um estudo de caso, concluiu-se que as três adaptações são capazes de (i) preservar o nível de significância adotado quando aplicadas à séries livres de tendência e autocorrelações e (ii) apresentam a mesma probabilidade de erro tipo II (power of the test) do MK quando aplicadas a amostras livres de correlação serial. O MKDD e o MKRD apresentam desempenho equivalente, sendo ambos incapazes de preservar o nível de significância adotado quando aplicados a séries autocorrelacionadas. O MKD sempre preserva a significância nominal. Entretanto, a probabilidade de erro tipo II associada a esse último teste tende a ser mais elevada do que as associadas ao MKDD e ao MKRD. Assim, considerando-se que a adoção da adaptação com menor probabilidade de erro tipo I acarreta em aumento da probabilidade de erro tipo II, recomenda-se o uso simultâneo do MKD e do MKDD (MKRD).Palavras-chave: simulações de Monte Carlo, correlação serial, mudança climática.

Considering the importance of climatologic series and the local temperature variability analyses, this study aimed to evaluate the trend of maximum and minimum air temperature in the State of Paraná, Brazil. It were used daily data for the period 1980 to 2009 of 28 locations. The trend magnitude was obtained through linear regression and statistical significance using the Mann-Kendall non-parametric test. The spatial distribution of changes found was represented in geo-referenced maps elaborated through the ARCGIS v.10.0 with the spline interpolation method. The results revealed that the State of Paraná presents great variability in air temperature changes, with differences between places ranging from reductions of 0.5 reductions to increases of 0.6 °C/decade. These increases occurred mainly during the winter and the spring and reductions in the autumn. It was not possible to define simultaneity between the trends due to different changes found, which may be related to local factors such as relief, vegetation and regional activities.KEYWORDS: climatic trend, interpolation, mann-kendall. TENDÊNCIA DA TEMPERATURA DO AR NO ESTADO DO PARANÁ, BRASIL RESUMO: Considerando a importância da análise de séries climatológicas e da variabilidade das temperaturas locais, este estudo objetivou avaliar a tendência temporal e espacial da temperatura máxima e mínima do ar do estado do Paraná, Brasil. Utilizouse dados diários correspondentes ao período de 1980 a 2009 de 28 localidades. A magnitude das tendências foi obtida por meio da regressão linear e a significância estatística a partir do teste não paramétrico de Mann-Kendall. A distribuição espacial das alterações encontradas foi representada em mapas georreferenciados elaborados pelo ARCGIS v.10.0 pelo método de interpolação spline. Os resultados encontrados revelam que o estado do Paraná possui uma grande variabilidade nas alterações de temperatura do ar, já que observou-se reduções de 0.5 a aumentos de 0.6 °C/década entre os municípios analisados. Os aumentos ocorreram principalmente durante o inverno e a primavera e as reduções na estação outono. Não foi possível definir uma simultaneidade entre as tendências devido as diferentes alterações encontradas, que podem estar relacionadas a fatores locais como relevo, vegetação e atividades regionais.Palavras-chave: tendência climática, mann-kendall, interpolação.
