Abstract: Within the system of Integrated Cattle Farming, corn intercropping with Brachiaria ruziziensis, Germann & Edvard, the option called Santa Fé system, allow for the production of grains and the production of forrage during the dry season, with the purpose of covering the soil and/or food production for cattle. “…A comparison between intercrop sowing times revealed that the 60 and 120 kg ha -1 rates resulted in higher N amount in the SS grain (0.99 and 1.64 kg ha -1 N, respectively) than that in STD (0.73 and 1.09 kg ha -1 N, respectively). This is likely an effect of the larger amounts of N applied, which normally have a close relationship to the N concentrations found in the plant (Lara-Cabezas & Pádua, 2007). At a rate of 120 kg ha -1 , FDNFP was higher in SS (2.55 kg ha -1 N) than STD (1.94 kg ha -1 ) in the rest of the plant (leaves + stem + straw + cob), which directly affected the FDNFP results for the whole plant (plant + grains).…”
