Visual and automatic cyclic alternating pattern (CAP) scoring

Abstract: A B S T R A C T -The classification of short duration events in the EEG during sleep, as the A stage of the cyclic a l t e rnating pattern (CAP) is a tedious and error prone task. The number of events under normal conditions is large (several hundreds), and it is necessary to mark the limits of the events with precision, otherwise the time sensitive classification of the CAP phases (A and B) and specially the scoring of diff e rent types of A phases will be compromised. The objective of this study is to verify… Show more

“…Although statistically significant improvements in pain were noted previously with both SXB 4.5 g and SXB 6 g 42 , the majority of the modifications in sleep architecture occurred at the higher dose of SXB. In fact, SXB 4.5 g had minimal effects on conventional sleep stage measures, and thus no association between the effects of SXB on sleep architecture at low dose and the demonstrated efficacy in pain reduction 41 was evident. Indeed, there seemed to be a trend to an increase in WASO with a decline in sleep efficiency.…”

“…Manuel skorlamanın zorluğu nedeniyle son yıllarda otomatik skorlama çalışmalarına yoğunluk verilmiştir. [22,23] İleride otomatik skorlama yöntemlerinin geliştirilmesi ile CAP analizi uyku EEG değerlendirmelerinde rutin kullanıma geçebilecektir. Bu durumda EEG ve CAP analizinin hastalıkların tanısında ve izlemindeki öneminin artacağını düşünmekteyiz.…”

“…Analysis of nocturnal sleep EEG CAP was determined by employing a computerized automatic detection analysis using the Embla PSG system 27,31 that provides the frequency of total CAP and subtypes of CAP A1 , CAP A2 , and CAP A3 32,33 . CAP was scored during Stage 2, 3, and 4 sleep.…”
