Características clínicas e laboratoriais de meningites piogênicas em adultos

Abstract: Foram analisados dados do prontuário de 176 pacientes com idade igual ou superior a 15 anos, internados no Hospital Couto Maia, no período de janeiro de 1990 a dezembro de 1992, em Salvador-BA, com o diagnóstico de meningite piogênica. Observamos, em ordem decrescente, maior percentagem de pacientes com N. meningitidis (56,7%), S. pneumoniae (37,5%) e E.coli. (3,3%). A letalidade foi maior no grupo com meningite pneumocócica.
