The causes for frequent involvement of the posterior lobe were the relatively wide contact with the adjacent dura and the direct arterial supply from the hypophyseal arteries, in contrast to the anterior lobe, which receives its blood supply from the hypophyseal portal system (7,16,19,23,32,33,38).
