Water is a necessary and important asset to the maintenance of life on our planet. In recent years has been cause for concern, due to several factors including nonconservation and environmental preservation, which may promote the imbalance of the hydrological cycle and even its scarcity. In this context, this work had the objective of verifying the degree of adequacy and awareness to the environmental legislation of rural properties regarding environmental preservation. For that, a questionnaire was drawn up that portrays the behavior and level of environmental awareness in the rural environment, in the preservation and conservation of environmental resources. It was verified that the owners seek to take care of their areas of springs, there is good will in the preservation of the environment and if they have concern, but they lack information and monitoring of the actions developed by them. The in nature water consumption of mines, wells and springs without control is very frequent, and there may be a risk to the health of the population or the animals that consume this water. It was pointed out as practice by the owners, the enclosure of an area without other care, including with the area of environmental protection (APP). Monitoring and instructional measures with landowners could improve the water quality of water source areas in order to establish policies and actions to preserve and / or conserve the water resources present in rural properties.
