The occurrence of environmental problems in the region of PA-391 Highway has as main consequence the expansion of the nearby communities that have settled down over the years, making improper use of natural resources for profit. In this sense, this research aimed to identify changes in land use and cover in the years1995 to 2018 in the Furo das Marinhas and Mari-Mari communities with the intention of check out the environmental impact generated by the expansion of these communities and then analyzed the environmental perception of the residentes and their relation with the changes in the use and coverage of the soil. The present study was carried out on the Island of Mosqueiro, located in the northeast of the state of Pará. A comparison of temporal evolution between satellite imagens from 1995 to 2018 was carried out. Two questionnaires, one qualitative and one quantitative, were made. United to the best understanting of the target public. From the mapping of the study area it was possible to identify points of deforestation and destruction of the plant space for the predominance of dwellings and agriculture that occur in the locality during the 24 years. In relation to the environmental perception of the inhabitants, they informed that there were changes in the environment, being able to cite mainly changes in the climate and the landscape through deforestation, and that these changes affect their life and their work. Thus, changes in land use and land cover directly affect communities, causing negative impacts on their quality of life.
