Com o objetivo de definir qual o melhor volume de tubete e o tempo de permanência das mudas de Senegalia bahiensis em viveiro, foram instalados dois experimentos em delineamento inteiramente casualizado. No primeiro experimento, as mudas foram produzidas em três volumes de tubetes (55, 180 e 280 cm³), constituindo os tratamentos, quatro repetições e 49 mudas por repetição. No segundo experimento, foi realizada uma simulação de campo utilizando duas mudas por repetição, totalizando 24 mudas. As variáveis analisadas foram: altura, diâmetro, massa seca da parte aérea e do sistema radicular, número de folhas, incremento médio diário em altura e incremento médio diário em diâmetro. As mudas produzidas no recipiente de menor volume (55cm³) obtiveram as menores médias para todas as variáveis analisadas, tanto na fase de produção de mudas, como na simulação de campo. Em função dos resultados obtidos nos experimentos, conclui-se que para a espécie Senegalia bahiensis, por sua produção de mudas apresentar qualidade semelhante quando foram utilizados tubetes de 180 e 280 cm³, recomenda-se o uso do tubete de 180 cm³, o qual, além de apresentar redução do ciclo de produção em no mínimo 33 dias, reduz o uso de insumos, nas condições em que os experimentos foram conduzidos.

The objective was to evaluate the effects of recipients and root characteristics on the quality of Australian cedar seedlings. The research was carried out in two stages, the first consisted of seedling production in the nursery and evaluation of morphological parameters, and the second consisted of evaluating the potential for root regeneration. There were five treatments involving two production systems for seedlings, tubes, and plastic bags: T1 – tube (288 cm3); T2 – tube (120 cm3); T3 - tube (55 cm3); T4 - plastic bags (424 cm3); and T5 - plastic bags (216 cm3). The seeds used are from a matrix tree located at the State University of Southwest Bahia. The design of the experiment was a completely randomized design with four replications. The morphological parameters evaluated were a) shoot height (H); b) neck diameter (D); c) fresh and dry biomass of shoots and roots; d) H/D, H/SDM, and shoot and root dry mass ratio (SDM/RDM); e) Dickson Quality Index (DQI), and f) the total number of regenerated roots present in the upper and lower parts of each container. The results showed that the tubes with 288 cm³ of volumetric capacity produced seedlings with higher averages for the morphological and root characteristics, constituting the ideal production system for Australian cedar seedlings. In the absence of tubes with 288 cm³, it is possible to use plastic bags (424 cm³) for this species. The evaluated root regeneration potential proves to be a favorable prognosis of rapid establishment and performance of seedlings in the field.

Obtaining high-quality native species seedlings and sustainable alternatives for seedling production are currently some of the bottlenecks for successful restoration plantings in degraded ecosystems. This study evaluated the survival and vigor of seminal seedlings of Mimosa flocculosa, M. micropteris and M. incana, produced in three containers (110 cm 3 and 55 cm 3 polypropylene tubes and 58 cm 3 SISBGC type biocompostable container) for ecological restoration purposes in the phytogeographic region of Mixed Ombrophilous Forest. Survival, total height, stem diameter, shoot and root dry biomass, sturdiness quotient, Dickson's quality index and technical efficiency were evaluated. Survival percentages were higher for the three Mimosa species throughout all evaluations and in the three containers, with an average over 95 %, demonstrating the viability of the seedling production protocol used. Although the 110 cm 3 tube favored larger seedling growth, especially in M. flocculosa, the SISBGC tube showed similar efficiency for M. micropteris and M. incana. We conclude that a good performance in the nursery, associated with the bio-decomposition characteristics, makes SISBGC an excellent alternative for producing native seedlings for ecological restoration purposes.
