Improvement of Circularly Polarized Slot-Patch Antenna Parameters by Using Electromagnetic Band Gap Structures

Abstract: This paper is devoted to the design of a novel Electromagnetic Band Gap (EBG) circularly polarized slot-patch antenna in multilayered configuration. The operating frequency band can be controlled via the disk radius and adjusting the slit lengths. An arrangement combining the circular slot-patch antenna design and feeding sources included are considered is necessary. Due to the exisiting of two feeding points, Position of both feeding points will permit Right-hand and Left-hand circular polarization operations… Show more

“…Encheng Wang designed a compact CP antenna by using organic material as substrate and witnessed that the gain and the AR bandwidth improved due to the introduction of fractal EBG structure on the ground plane. In reference , by inserting EBG layers on the substrate, a CP slot‐Patch antenna was designed to improve characteristics such as gain, impedance bandwidth, and radiation efficiency. Zhao Ke designed a low‐profile CP antenna where the patch had a diagonal slot and EBG structures surrounding it and achieved wide axial bandwidth with improved front to back ratio.…”

“…PBGs are periodic structures produced in conductive or dielectric materials, such as patch, ground plane, or dielectric substrate. They propagate the electromagnetic waves at a specific frequency for all states of polarization and incident angles . PBG can be compared to a semiconductor, offering pass‐band and stop‐band.…”
