This paper introduces a new scheme for effective output port isolation and return loss in RF-filtering divider design. The proposed design incorporates an extended transmission line and a conventional resistor as isolation elements.The technique has a simpler microstrip circuit implementation when it comes to the integration of a single-band bandpass filter with a Wilkinson power divider to achieve simultaneous filtering-dividing action. It is established that if a band-pass filter with a certain fractional-bandwidth is matched to 70.7 Ω , a transmission line section and isolation resistor are sufficient for achieving reasonable output port return loss and isolation in the resulting filtering divider.In experimental validation, two single-band band-pass filters, namely a coupled-line filter and an open-loop coupled resonator triangular filter with center frequencies of 3 GHz and 1 GHz, respectively, effectively replace the conventional quarter-wavelength transformers for equal division of power. The proposed filtering divider structures were fabricated and a reasonable agreement was observed between respective simulated and measured S-parameter responses. The experimental results for a coupled-line filtering power divider and an open-loop triangular filtering power divider were as follows: 1 dB fractional-bandwidths of 15.3% and 12%, port isolations better than 31 dB and 20 dB, and good out-of-band performances up to 2.67f 0 and 2.85f 0 , respectively.

In this paper, a new multilayer low parasitic synthesis of composite right‐left handed (CRLH) TL is proposed and demonstrated. A novel method for designing of the extended microstrip inductors and capacitors in the resonator or 2‐port method for the simultaneous extraction of inductors and capacitors in series or parallel form is presented. By putting these resonators together, multilayer unit cells are introduced for CRLH practical implementations. Finally, with the combination of the unit cells, several CRLH metamaterial TLs are designed. To verify this method, a Wilkinson power divider based on CRLH cells is designed and simulated. The actual prototype of 1:2 Wilkinson power divider is fabricated on FR4 substrate. Measured results of fabricated prototype provide a good consistency with simulated results.

A 1.8/2.4-GHz dual-band compact Wilkinson power divider was designed and implemented using an integrated passive device process. The design used a common inductor to match impedance in the even mode. The common inductor replaced two shunt inductors in the circuit so the circuit size was reduced. An additional complex load was then used for matching impedance in the odd mode. The circuit measurements showed reflection at all ports better than-11.9 dB, isolation at the output ports better than-14 dB and transmission coefficient better than-4.3 dB, at both operating frequencies. The circuit occupied only 0.036λ o ×0.018λ o at the higher operating frequency. INDEX TERMS Common inductor, dual band, integrated passive device, lumped transmission line, Wilkinson power divider.
