Background: This cross-sectional study compared the general impact of cutaneous leishmaniasis (CL) and patient satisfaction with treatment and health services as perceived by those undergoing different therapeutic regimens in an endemic region in South-Eastern Brazil. We also investigated the factors associated with both outcomes (general impact and satisfaction). Methods:We included 84 patients with CL treated between 2018 and 2019 with intravenous meglumine antimoniate, liposomal amphotericin B, or intralesional meglumine antimoniate therapy. Data were collected through interviews that assessed sociodemographic characteristics, comorbidity status, access and use of health services for CL diagnosis and treatment, and the items of the Cutaneous Leishmaniasis Impact Questionnaire (CLIQ). The CLIQ is a psychometric questionnaire previously validated to assess the general impact of CL on patient satisfaction with treatment and health services. Multivariate logistic regression analysis was used to identify the factors associated with high CL impact and low patient satisfaction. Objetivo: Identificar a qualidade de vida de portadores de feridas agudas atendidas pelo Serviço de Atenção Domiciliar. Método: Estudo quantitativo, descritivo e transversal, com pacientes atendidos no Serviço de Atendimento Domiciliar do Município de Curitiba, Paraná, no período de julho a outubro de 2022. A inserção fora idoso que apresentavam feridas agudas adquiridas durante o internamento hospitalar e foram entrevistados após 30 dias da alta, independente do estadiamento da lesão. Os participantes responderam os questionários sociodemográficos e Wound Quality of Life traduzido e validado para a cultura brasileira, com análise da frequência absoluta, relativa e desvio padrão. Resultados: Foram 32 idosos que apresentavam feridas agudas, prevalente do sexo masculino (56%; n=18), na faixa etária dos 60 a 70 anos (56%; n=18) e hipertensos 47% (n=15). Foi contabilizado 60 lesões sendo a maioria na região sacra (27%; n=16), com tamanho médio 45% (n=27); presença de odor (52%; n=31) e exsudato (52%; n=31). Em relação à qualidade de vida foi verificado o impacto no domínio psicológico (DP=1,03) e de vida cotidiana (DP= 1,1). Conclusão: Os fatores clínicos e a característica da ferida aguda influenciaram na qualidade de vida, sendo necessária a implementação de cuidados de enfermagem e minimizar os impactos.

Multivariate regression analysis in the probability of deaths in COVID-19 cases: a case study in the State of Pará, Amazon region, Brazil

Since the first detected cases of COVID-19 in Brazil, researchers have made a great effort to try to understand the disease. Understanding the impact of the disease on people can be instrumental in identifying which groups can be considered at risk. Therefore, this study researches a probabilistic model based on a statistical model of non-linear regression analyzing the following variables: age, if you are a health professional, if you are resident in the Metropolitan Region of Belém (RMB), State of Pará and gender with the objective of identifying those people who have a greater impact on the number of people infected and killed by COVID-19, that is, people who are more likely to die. To carry out the research, we used the data of all infected people by COVID-19 in the State of Pará until July 2020. It can be verified according to the proposal of the probabilistic model that elderly people, with a odds ratio of 1.69 (95% CI 1.52-1.88), residents of Metropolitan Region of Belém, with an odds ratio of 2.14 (95% CI 2.02 - 2.27) and men, with an odds ratio of 1.83 (95% CI 1.73 - 1.95) are groups of people with a higher risk of dying from diseases, while health professionals, with a 0.36 chance ratio (CI9 5% 0.29 - 0.45), are less likely to die.
