Propagation of Dyckia vicentensis, an endemic bromeliad of the Pampa biome, Brazil

Abstract: Dyckia vicentensis is an endemic species of the southwestern region of Rio Grande do Sul (RS, Brazil), which presents high ornamental and economic value. Thus, the aim of this study was to test in vitro and ex vitro conditions for its propagation. For in vitro germination, disinfested seeds were inoculated on Murashige and Skoog medium with different salt concentrations and containing or not active charcoal. The ex vitro emergence of the seeds was evaluated using different compositions of substrates. Results s… Show more

“…Nevertheless, all research still lack knowledge related to the physiological potential and adequated care for seed analysis (Silva et al, 2019). In this context, Dyckia germination studies were carried out with some species, nonetheless, there are few and each species have particularities, reinforcing the need of studies contemplating other species of the genus (Flores et al, 2018;Paula, Men, Biz, Ribeiro Júnior, & Faria, 2020).…”

“…In vitro multiplication protocols have already been developed for several endemic vulnerable or endangered Bromeliaceae species (Dal Vesco et al 2014;Resende et al 2016;Fariaet al 2018;Flores et al 2018;L i m aet al 2020;Sasamori et al 2020).…”
