“…Although some of the cultivars used in the present study, such as Comanche and Cherokee are said to have medium and medium-high chilling requirement respectively [22], under the studied conditions, they were not different from the others, such as cultivars BRS Xavante [23], Caingangue [24], Brazos [25], Tupy and BRS Xingu [26] and BRS Cainguá [27], which have an estimated chilling requirement between 200 and 300 hours (≤7.2 ºC). And almost for all the tested models a very small difference in chilling accumulation to bud break between the cultivars was noticed.…”

“…Frutos pequenos, como as amoras, estão se tornando cada vez mais populares devido ao seu benefício à saúde humana (Raseira et al, 2020). O baixo custo de implantação e manutenção do pomar e, principalmente, a necessidade reduzida de agrotóxicos, faz com que a cultura da amoreira-preta seja uma boa opção para o cultivo agroecológico (Antunes et al, 2010).…”

“…The BRS Cainguá cultivar was launched in 2019, by Embrapa Clima Temperado Blackberry Genetic Improvement Program, its fruits are elongated, have a good balance between acidity and sugar, which gives them good acceptance for the in natura market. The plant has a lower density of thorns and is also less susceptible to rust, when compared to 'Tupy', the main cultivar used in Brazil (Raseira et al, 2020). Which makes it an excellent option for cultivation in alternative production techniques, such as organic and agroecological systems (Cavender et al, 2019).…”
