AGROCHEMICALS AND STEM CUTTING TYPES FOR PLANTLET PRODUCTION OF Spondias sp

Abstract: Umbu-caja (Spondias sp.) is a fruit tree native to the Northeast region of Brazil, which is grown because of its highly valuable fruits for fruit processing industries. The objective of this work was to evaluate the effect of agrochemical applications and cutting types on the rooting and development of Spondias sp. plantlets. The experiment was conducted at the experimental field of the Embrapa Tropical Agroindustry, in Pacajus, CE, Brazil. A randomize block experimental design was used, with five treatments -… Show more

“…In addition to the hormonal balance, other internal and external factors influence the rooting and survival of cuttings, such as the harvest time (RIOS et al, 2012), genotype, temperature and humidity conditions during the period when the cuttings are kept in the greenhouse (DENAXA et al, 2012, ZANG et al, 2013, and conditioning agents applied to the cuttings (MENDES et al, 2019). The IBA concentrations did not influence (p>0.05) the sprouting percentage, which was low, varying from 0 to 7.5%, with sprout emission occurring in only six of the 240 cuttings evaluated (Table 5).…”

“…In this context, despite the advances of research in the field of fruit characterization (BASTOS;MARTINEZ;SOUZA, 2016;CAMPOS et al, 2018), definition of suitable rootstocks SANTOS, 2009), seedling production by cuttings (MENDES et al, 2019) and physiological characterization (ANTUNES et al, 2016), umbu and umbu-caja currently have no recommended accessions for use on a productive scale or for a specific destination market, either for fresh consumption or for agroindustry, so studies need to be conducted (FREITAS et al, 2015).…”
