PRODUCTION OF LETTUCE UNDER GREEN MANURING WITH Calotropis procera IN TWO CULTIVATION SEASONS

Abstract: -The production of vegetable crops is characterized by intensive land use, high input demands and the requirement of strategic management adoption with an agro-ecological approach. In this study, agronomic indicators were evaluated in lettuce fertilized with different amounts of roostertree biomass; fertilizer was incorporated into the soil at distinct times and seedlings were planted in two cropping seasons (spring and autumn-winter) in Serra Talhada, Pernambuco state, Brazil. The experimental design consiste… Show more

“…12 t ha -1 on a fresh weight basis. These amounts are in line with green manure produc- tion rates (Sakai et al, 2011;Souza et al, 2017). In the 32 Pi-only treatments, 150 µL of 10 mg 32 P mL -1 was well mixed with 25 g of soil and added to each sub-compartment to again provide a total of 3 mg 32 P per rhizotron.…”

“…thus resulting in the reduction of the characteristic under analysis after the maximum point (Almeida et al, 2015). Another factor that may be related to this behavior of the tuberous vegetable is the proper synchrony between the decomposition and mineralization of green manures added to soil and time of the greatest nutritional demand of the culture (Souza et al, 2017).…”

“…] stand out due to their availability, ease of obtaining, high fresh mass production, and high N contents (BATISTA et al, 2016). Some studies have been conducted using these species, which have shown good results as soil fertilizers for leafy and root vegetables and increased commercial yields for single crops (GÓES et al, 2011;SILVA et al, 2011;BEZERRA NETO et al, 2014;OLIVEIRA et al, 2015a;SOUZA et al, 2016;SOUZA et al, 2017;SILVA et al, 2017;SOUZA et al, 2019;NUNES et al, 2020) and intercrops (ALMEIDA et al, 2015;OLIVEIRA et al, 2015b;BEZERRA NETO et al, 2019).…”
