A “Flora Fluminensis” de frei Vellozo: uma abordagem interdisciplinar

Abstract: O artigo analisa a obra de Frei Vellozo (1741-1811) intitulada “Flora Fluminensis”, com interpretações dos campos disciplinares da botânica e da história. No período de 1783 a 1790, a equipe liderada por Frei Vellozo percorreu o território do Rio de Janeiro com objetivo de produzir um levantamento detalhado das plantas. Passados 39 anos, o trabalho de Vellozo foi publicado com 1.639 descrições de plantas em latim e 11 volumes in-folio de ilustrações botânicas.
