Validity and reliability of the Brazilian Portuguese version of the Australian National University - Alzheimer’s Disease Risk Index (ANU-ADRI)

Abstract: The ANU-ADRI is a self-report tool that assesses risk for Alzheimer’s Disease (AD).Objective:To validate an adapted Portuguese version of this instrument and to carry out the reliability Test-Retest of the ANU-ADRI in Brazil. Methods:In this longitudinal study, the sample was formed (n=100) by two groups (A and B): each comprising 50 patients assisted by GPs (general practitioners) or specialists in dementia. All participants were cognitively healthy upon screening using the MMSE. The ANU-ADRI was applied at ba… Show more

“…However, it should be noted that only the "age" factor does not necessarily imply developing AD, which justifies the active aging of many elderly. Other factors that influence it are genetics, family history, the risk for cardiovascular diseases associated with smoking, obesity, and diabetes (16)(17) , fewer years of formal education, less social engagement, and traumatic brain injury (TBI) ( 3) . Also, a study has associated chronic stress as a considerable risk factor (18) .…”

It has been translated into Portuguese ( 69 ) and after consultation with end users, a short form version of the ANU-ADRI was been created with single or shortened questions for risk factor assessment ( 70 ) and this was validated against the full length version.…”
