Specific algorithm method of scoring the Clock Drawing Test applied in cognitively normal elderly

Abstract: The Clock Drawing Test (CDT) is an inexpensive, fast and easily administered measure of cognitive function, especially in the elderly. This instrument is a popular clinical tool widely used in screening for cognitive disorders and dementia. The CDT can be applied in different ways and scoring procedures also vary.ObjectiveThe aims of this study were to analyze the performance of elderly on the CDT and evaluate inter-rater reliability of the CDT scored by using a specific algorithm method adapted from Sunderlan… Show more

“…Our results are comparable with the results from previous studies done in Australia [14], Brazil [15], Canada [16], China [17], Czech Republic [9], Denmark [8], Germany [18], Greece [19], Italy [20][21][22], Israel [23], Portugal [24], Slovakia [25] and the USA [26][27][28]. The most interesting comparison is with the Austrian [29], Italian [20][21][22] and Czech [9] studiespopulations with whom we share a similar cultural and historical background.…”

“…A possible reason for this is that we used a simpler, yet no less effective scoring system. The same results were obtained by MendesSantos et al [15], who did not find any correlation between the CDT total score and age or education.…”
